Are there any HTML5 Web Cams out there?

We have been hearing for a long time that Flash will be gone so are there any Webcam programs that actually have a working HTML5 solution in place live? Or is everyone waiting for Flash to actually be fazed out before they are going to react? or???

I just looked at MFC, Cams.com, Streammate, Imlive and Chaturbate and they are are still showing as flash for me in Chrome.

They work on my Android so must have a fallback

Hmm. I knew that Chaturbate had a different platform they were running for Crapple stuff. I just went in on my Samsung and I got the same thing. So, it looks like they have something worked out for the phones. Cool.

Hopefully it will work for desktop when the time comes too.

Hopefully they can get away from having to click the start arrow (whatever you call it) and can instead start with the image showing.

Thanks

Most (including our) cam site do this: if there's flash, display flash. If there is not flash, display HLS (the apple one that works also in android). Note that HLS do not work in all desktop browsers, so a desktop browser without flash may be left with no option :)

Im guessing the big players are prepping and developing it. It's not an overnight switch. :) 2017 will see some changes in this aspect without a doubt

mikesouth 08-10-2016 03:56 PM

In mainstream most of the movement is towards MPEG DASH

google hangouts is the best backend service i have seen...several companies whitelabel it

costs a lot

Good question..

Barry-xlovecam 08-11-2016 09:12 AM

He is where we are at;

The issue with HTML5 HLS is that there is no ip to ip peering possible.
Commonly referred to as: Private chat cam-to cam with 2 way voice. WebRTC is one solution for this. Flash is the best solution (*for PC only) still used for now.

Access control (private mode) is possible in HLS in a MPEG-Dash EME player. Adobe with all of their financial and technical resources have not offered a commercial product to the industry.

We have had 1 on 1 WeRoulette - Video Chat for casual encounters open in beta to the public for over 2 years now.

Webcam site backends are very complex and need to adapt or die. I foresaw this day that is coming 3 years ago and we are going to be making some major changes in time.

^^^ This.

I can only speak for us, but we have changed out our framework for HTML 5. It is much faster, and we've seen a huge improvement. Now, because we have so much invested in the WOWZA broadcasting setup, we are using HTML 5 for everything except the broadcasting, which is still Flash based, sadly. We're working on the HTML P2P broadcasting part and it is very difficult, but for us it's imperative as well.

Wowza is cool. For broadcasting (the models sending video), you can support and let download open broadcaster ( https://obsproject.com/download ) , the pc/mac freeware used by gamers to broadcast in twitch.tv for example. We implemented that, but nearly no model use that, they simply use Flash as it's quicker for them and does not involve brain effort. I guess after Chrome will remove Flash, models will prefer to switch to firefox rather than use the broadcaster. Only when firefox also may ban flash... well the models may switch to explorer. If explorer also bans flash.. ok then models will finally download and use the damn broadcaster program.

Users wanting to send own video: same story of models, I guess.

Hey Sarettah, long time no see!

Ours is HTML5, with auto fallback to Flash. www.2Much.net and www.Miricam.com

Let me know if you like what you see, and I will set you up with a free trial or rev-share deal.

Cheers!

Hey Mark,

I am talking strictly from the affiliate side on cams. Don't need a platform, just need sponsors to be getting HTML5 in place so we don't lose a bunch of income when the powers that be force the issue.

Thanks

And the Private Cam to cam w/ voice ? That is where the real money is made.

I will buy credits/tokens and test it without Flash ... If you say that will work

@sarettah: If you are such a great coder tell me how you would use a TURN and STUN server to have a true WebRTC multi-person chat for 20 -200 people without using Java (we have that in use now). I am sure that you could copyright that and make a bundle selling licenses right now. Ball is in your court ...

That (Affiliate sales) is of course a concern but we as a site have millions a month at risk -- one hand washes the other.

Our mobile site operates fine for a private now and has for years. However, there is no customer cam and customer voice available. I think this may be one of the reasons mobile private shows are of less value as compared to full features on a PC with Flash.

I don't see where that will help with the peer 2 peer issues in HTML5 (private shows -- where the money is [for our models]) .

There is a Flash (ASC-XML) for Android at the Google Play Store that is also configurable to your media servers for broadcasting. I tested it myself -- it publishes the video and voice. I has a crude interface but the source is available ...

Adult cam apps will not be accepted (or kept) in Google and Apple stores. If you want guys to install your unsigned APK on Androids or limit on Apple to jailbreaked devices that's quite a tweak, not mass market. I this someone used puffinbrowser.com on android/iphone to access our old sites that are flash only, but I didn't checked myself if it really works with stream and all, had anyone tested this?

We also support skype plugin billing per minute, this is 2 way audio and video and works on mobiles too. However, I don't see it being used much, since they can use flash. It may become popular in a moment no flash in any browser, perhaps.

hi Barry. so if its such a big issue, how does google hangouts do it? i think even streamate now does it, even on iphones. seems the solution is there....

If you feel qualified to work as a developer or coder -- please send your resume (CV).

I tried puffin once on Free Chat Android and it seemed to work OK IDK about the private show features -- I did not try those.

The app I referred to would only be for the models and only for android -- I have the full source code. Android phone: Setting>Security> uncheck Verify Apps Install the broadcaster the recheck = done . But it APP is moot as we will not be using it.

OBS is a one way but there are better ways.

We don't do business on Skype (<period>) it is unsecured.

rabbit mentioned Streamate: If someone from Streamate would like to post that they have HTML5 on a PC (Windows/osx/LINUX) working with no Flash and publishing a customer's cam and sound -- I will buy credits and see for myself in a private with a Model :2 cents:

I have no idea. Not my specialty by any means. (That does not mean I am not a good developer btw. You don't go to a podiatrist to get your heart fixed, ya know?)
