An dispatcher said it wasn't immediately clear how far the child fell. No other injuries were reported.

Idlewild is home to mostly child-friendly rides as well as some attractions with minimum height restrictions. It wasn't immediately known which ride the child fell from.

The Pennsylvania Amusement Ride Safety Division has shut down the coaster and an investigation has been opened, said supervisor Joseph Filoromo.

The Wild Mouse, billed as a "classic roller coaster," features a steel track, while the Rollo Coaster transports riders "up and down along a wooded hillside" and swooping curves, according to the park website.

The owner of the Idlewild & Soak Zone did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The accident follows other incidents at amusement parks and fairs this summer ? including one in Tennessee that injured three girls when their Ferris wheel bucket overturned and another in Kansas in which a 10-year-old boy was killed on a 169-foot water slide.

NEWSFLASH - incidents happen at amusement parks every year.

But when you see "decapitated" and "dangerous water slide" connected to one story - it becomes the trendy thing to report on all the happenings.

Keep us updated on future incidents.

Please.

I think the problem is that someone let their 3 year old go on a roller coaster...

Heyyy, this park is about an hour and a half from me here in Pittsburgh and I grew up going to Idlewild every summer.

This Rollo Coaster was always kind of shitty. It didn't go fast or have any big hills, but there is one wicked sharp turn, which i imagine is were this kid fell out. There wasn't a restraint system, just sit down and hang on. It was a pretty boring coaster, even when I was 8 years old...

That track in OP picture looks like a very dated roller coaster.
I'd never step a foot to ride it or let anyone of mine close to it.
Similar old coaster on Coney Island, Brooklyn - every now and then it gets on the news

All these old coasters should be dismantled for public safety.
Not understanding how people go for a ride on a 100 years old technology and structure with minimal safety measures. These coasters look like about to fall apart regardless if freshly painted or not.
