Are we all part of a huge simulation?
|
It's a pretty old idea ...
|
Reality... simulation.... what a... uhhh... Subject... :winkwink:

Our dreams are simulations. Not much of stretch for it all to be.

As long as William Shatner is alive...there is hope.
As Kirk - he can talk any sentient computer into committing suicide before the computer kills us. |
Is this a collective simulation or am I the only one in it?...are you all sleeping exe files that are active only when observed or are we all installed in the same OS and observing each other?...I will never know...are we being observed by the makers of the simulation or did we make it and gift ourselves eternal life simulations?...who said immortality has to be physical?...do we pick lives like TV shows and then live them in oblivion and when we die in the simulation we pick a new one?...

The compting power is taken from distant planets so people around you don't need to lie dormant until you pass by. Also, I think it's safe to say that if we are part of a simulation then we are being observed at all times. Like not literally but they could if they wanted to. |

Did I upload myself to a USB stick with the simulation inside, a million years ago and nobody is watching but me, or is it more like a cloud and I am here with others and somebody is managing the cloud? No way to tell... |
I suppose anything is possible. Maybe there is a God. Maybe there isn't. Maybe we are in a simulation. Maybe we are just a species that evolved. Maybe we are the product of aliens. Maybe we are considered a parasite by some alien race, left here to do as we please.
We will never know until we die and by then it is too late to tell anyone else. |
Read The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect.

In theory - possible :)

Computer simulated future is so boring. Why don't they come up with something unique, it sounds like someone from the 50's idea of what the future holds, sorta like the Jetson's lol
I think if people make it to 10000 ad we'll be far more interested in something new that we can't even imagine yet, running simulations of the past won't be needed. But I'm sure there will be technology that can do all those things. |
life is a paradox in itself, it exists where it could not to begin with

It's god's dream.

DeGrasse and the Mario guy and that other genius black guy and some lady and some philosophy junky had a pretty interesting discussion about this
Look it up in youtube It was pretty good |
think it's all started with this book:
Jean Baudrillard "Simulacres et Simulation" |

this reminds me Poe who suggested that we could be living in a dream too, i love two last lines.

Hold on I'm going to test the simulation by making a major change - I'm going to try to get rid of the color fromb. If it doesn't exist when you read this, you'll know I was successful.
|
If so I need someone to save all data and restore me back to 16.

So im NEO?
I knew it. So long suckers! |

and those last two lines remind me of Inception, You create the world of the dream, you bring the subject into that dream, and they fill it with their subconscious. |
