If anxiety is taking over your life, you're not getting outside and communicating enough. Think of any event you went into sweating, and came out of smiling.. It's so rarely a real disappointment. Also, every so many weeks, do something without alcohol, just to make sure you can still talk to strangers without drinking. Meeting people in the industry in person can have a huge impact on your business.

Never be intimidated by what you see here on GFY. Some people on GFY hiding behind their nicknames (fake or real) can be dicks, but in person everyone is nice and proper.

I was a bit afraid when I went to Amsterdam in 2009 for my very first show. And it was fantastic!
Every year I meet at least a handful of Great guys I never met before and it definitely makes sense to attend. From all aspects this is a MUST if you want to be a 'serious player' or wut :pimp

It's really easy. Alcohol helps.

The worst part is when you show up at an event and don't know anyone and kind of just wander around alone until some outgoing type introduces themselves. Best solution is to just hang at the bar and engage people there. Everyone loves meeting new affiliates because they're such a rarity. Be prepared for annoying 20 questions about your sites and traffic though.

we love meeting other models, business owners & webmasters. Already this years, a few British models & a couple of website owners have come around for drinks or we've gone out to shoot...

As an ad network we've attended a lot of shows esp this year with Amsterdam, Prague and Bangkok coming up. Everyone we've dealt with has been awesome and the affilaites we've met are good, polite people.

Obviously there's always that 1 or 2 people that are difficult to deal with but 99% meeting people and networking at these events and expos has been a great experience. Give it a try. Seriously :)

Yes brother! We met when, was it last year? It feels like so much longer ago! But sadly this year I will not be there as I already went to Europe this year. But I will be attending the Vegas shows in January and absolutely next year in Amsterdam and Prague. :)

(Anyone attending those shows should meet Matyko. He is genuinely a good person and very smart indeed. :thumbsup)
