Imagine a savvy politician addressing the concerns of the Americans who are pissed off by the way the US is run.

Whatever people say about Trump, he's exposed the problems America faces.

Penn was on Trump's show so he may have personal insights into Trump from the experience that the press would not necessarily be privy to. Expressing his opinion holds the validation of first hand experience and should not be entirely discounted based on him being an entertainer. Especially since his stock in trade has been calling bullshit, not just on magic but obviously society too as he did in his muckraker show on cable, his views are worthy even if one doesn't agree with them.
