Holy Sh1t! Motorway bridge collapses on vehicles!

Wow, bank holiday weekend & I bet there's going to be a massive queue, probably until tomorrow!!

It looks like no one has been hurt but seems it smashed into many vehicles & there was an obvious pile up & an injured motor cyclist, I suppose he crashed from in the pile up rather than the bridge landing on him...

thank god no one has been seriously hurt, it looks bad!

Here's the full story M20 motorway bridge collapse: Live updates as walkway crushes vehicles below during Bank Holiday getaway - Mirror Online

when reading the above, it seems one hit the bridge & it was undergoing repairs. Could someone be paying out a lot of compensation here? Shouldn't the motorway have been closed if the bridge was obviously fragile?

NatalieK 08-27-2016 06:09 AM

seems they've shut the whole motorway...

wow, for those not in the UK or not knowing where the m20 is, that's the main motorway from London m25 down to Dover, so either those coming into the country or going away to France or abroad for the "bank holiday weekend"...

holy shit!

Kent M20 shut after crash and footbridge collapse - BBC News

wehateporn 08-27-2016 06:29 AM

The lorry was too tall for the motorway

Interesting to see how quick they get this fixed

The M20 in Kent is closed between junctions three and four because of a ?vehicle striking a bridge? on the eastbound carriageway, according to Highways England
So, the accident was caused by a truck driver taking an over legal height trailer under a overpass bridge. I am assuming that there were warning signs with the bridge height. That is not an accident -- that is stupidity.

:thumbsup

it's a very busy motorway, 10000's of cars travel up there in any one day...

here's a different story, but of the same road from a couple of years back

this will make disruption to all goods coming into and going out of the UK :2 cents:

Happens all the time, but normally the bridges are strong enough to take the hit.

no...

something dropped from one truck and the other truck hit the item and bounced up hitting the bridge that was already in need of repair.

I think there's going to be a massive comp payout from highway maintenance :2 cents:

NatalieK 08-27-2016 12:37 PM

the M20 still seems closed, the UK must be losing loads of money with movement from the docks & delayed deliveries...

Most of the shipping from the whole country goes out from Dover :2 cents:

Always one of the problems when a story is breaking. Full of inaccuracies and speculation.

Since you obviously have difficulty ascertaining intelligent conversation, I'm intentionally simplifying it lately so you can keep up.

Well you said 'no one was hurt' but there was a motorcyclist injured for a start, something you state later on in the same sentence. There was no 'pile up' either and it didn't smash into 'many vehicles'.

If correct, there are still tail backs and hold ups, the road's still closed or many lanes are as they work on the bridge.

It must have created havoc to travelers this bank holiday weekend :(

It's not correct.

_Richard_ 08-29-2016 04:14 AM

do they know how it happened? the explanations don't seem correct
