If he feels black people are oppressed in this country and change needs to happen, great. However, I think this is the wrong way to go about it. All he is doing is drawing negative attention to himself. He should put his money where is mouth is go into these oppressed communities and see what he can do there to help effect change.

exactly how I feel.. I too think that the police are way too racist in a lot of places.. but what he is doing is not helping. I thought I'd check out his twitter to see if he was trying to do more positive (cause sometimes media likes to spin things) and what I saw made my stomach turn.. I live in NorCal - 49er territory - and it's all over my Facebook feed. I have lost all respect for Colin.

I believe all Americans are equal. Colin Kaepernick is the perfect example of this. His deadbeat father was African American and his mother was a single mom. Yet somehow Colin has risen above his family history to make hundreds of millions of dollars.

Kap has been going downhill fast, they tried to switch him to a pocket passer and it didn't work. His legs were his threat and they took them away. Now he's just causing a big distraction for his team. Sitting, Standing doesn't make a difference he needs to go do something useful, like give some of his multi-millions to help people. The 49er's are gonna have a rough year.

I'm struggling with this one. He believes something - aren't we supposed to be about his freedom to do that? I also see African American anger at USA getting more intense, which leads down a very dark path that we may not be able to avoid.

Personally, I think he is being disrespectful because the flag is not a representation of police brutality. His actions are completely misguided. So I agree with the fact he is being an idiot and it sounds like he needs a time-out.

Influential people don't always need to give all their money away to make a difference. However, in a sense he is kind of risking sacrificing his money long term for a cause he believes in. Misguided or not.

I don't believe people are "oppressed" in the United States because of their race or the color of their skin. People who consider themselves "oppressed" and those who complain the most all have one common trait - they live in the inner cities. They are oppressed because there is limited opportunity where they live. Oh I'm sure some people are in fact discriminated against because of their race, etc, but I think the reality of it all is they have problems because of where they live.

Kaepernick has the right to sit down. This would not be true in some countries. Our society has the right to deem him a complete ass and expedite his trip to used car salesman land.
