Brave Browser with Ad-blocking and Bitcoin Micropayments

Interesting concept:

This browser blocks ads but also allows you to pay the ad publisher for allowed content anonymously.

[t]he system pays [users(websites?)] in bitcoin for watching ads that were approved by the browser.

Co-founded by Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich, the startup has developed an open source ad-blocking Brave Browser that offers an increased level of privacy for its users. The content-filtering extension, which is available Windows, Linux, iOS, Mac, and Android, is aimed at improving users’ web experience by making it safer and faster. It provides a 2x to 4x speed growth on mobile devices and a 40-60% speed growth of the desktop version.

Brave Payments allows users to donate money for websites they want to support, while avoiding ads and trackers that overwhelm web pages and slow down computer performance. ...

I think the important idea here is letting the viewer/[site visitor] pay for value received.

There is nothing excluding website review toward site branding just link exclusion perhaps. I guess you would have to rethink your website advertising strategies -- right now 30% or more don't see your network ads anyway ...

Interesting concept, but not sure if it will work...

This is like micro-pay support.

The trick to this idea working out is that the site reward the person that voluntarily pays for the normal content to be awarded some sort of perks both toward customer retention and also incentives toward customer acquisitions.

Meaning:
Quote:

Hi Guest, we see you are using the Brave Browser we hope you like our content and will make a small monthly contribution to help support our costs. By contributing we will be able to continue providing content to you without the ads that you would prefer not to see.

If you donate $x/month you will get access to _____ as our thank you for your support.
Most importantly, Brave should accept ACH, SEPA and PayPal also -- they could debit their cost in the transaction, i.e.; deduct the processing fees. Bitcoin is not that mainstream to be the only form of payment:2 cents: I think the biggest obstacle will be the single source funding option of Bitcoin only.
