A member of Egyptian parliament called on women to agree to female genital mutilation, or FGM, in order to ?reduce their sexual appetites,? local media reported. He also allegedly cited Egyptian men?s high rate of consumption of sexual stimulants.

Elhamy Agina, also in hot water in June this year after comments suggesting that women should dress more modestly in the Egyptian parliament, this time openly defended the procedure of female genital mutilation, a centuries-old tradition common in many African states. The procedure requires the intentional removal of some or all female external genitalia for non-medical reasons.

It's all the woman's fault because the men cannot keep their dick in their pants according to Islamic laws? Sort of like the Middle Ages in the western world -- making girls wear chastity belts -- the harm was more discomfort and humiliation.

Except it's not the same thing. Not even close.

FGM has a high infection (fistulas, open wounds, sepsis, cysts and a whole slew of other unpleasant side effects should she survive) and death rate in unlike circumcision of the penis. Childbirth carries high risk of death as well.

Its sole purpose throughout centuries was to control and contain a woman's sexuality.
FGM removes sexual pleasure COMPLETELY from the woman and not only does it remove pleasure, but it makes sex as painful as possible for her for the rest of her life as in FGM a woman's vagina is also almost stitched up completely after FGM is performed. A cruel and doubled edge sword.
