Roku, Amazon Fire Stick or Dragon for watching tv online?

Im just now learning about these devices to watch tv. What is the best way to
go ?

Is there any down side to watching online vs paid cable?

I would love to Eliminate my Direct Tv account and jut go this route
if I could.

Take as many laxatives as you have available, relax and wait...

I have a Roku 3 and a Roku Stick. The 3 is much better than the Stick, significantly faster. I can only assume there would be a similar story with the Fire Stick.

I use the Roku to connect to Netflix, Hulu, my Plex set up, Amazon, Spotify, and several others. Definitely a nice option. I don't know that I would like it as much if I didn't also have Plex running, but certainly worth getting either way.

I'm going to check out the Roku 4k shortly.

One option you left out is MacTV. Looks nice but I like the Roku better.

Thanks, so you are able to access all the content for Free ? Even Netflix?

There is free content available, like Crackle, but almost everything I listed would require a subscription to those services. If you have Amazon Prime, that gives you access to Amazon Video and Music, which is a nice value in itself.

Whether you can "cut the cord" or not would be completely dependent on how much cable TV you watch. I don't watch a lot of sports, so not sure how sports fans handle it.

Get one of these (or bigger if you're out of range):

https://www.antennasdirect.com/store...ith_Mount.html

That will give you free over-the-air HD of the major networks and some locals. You can even add a PVR with guide like the Tablo.

You can check what channels you would get here: TV Fool

Then you can use a Roku, AppleTV or a decent Android box or HTPC to run things like Netflix, HULU, etc., and even stream the channels from the Tablo if you got one.

All my TVs run Plex and connect to my media server. Everything comes into and streams from one dedicated box in the basement.

I have the fire stick and chromecast.

For just watching netflix, hulu, showtime, hbo go, amazon prime etc.. the firestick is far better and easier..

The only thing I like about chromecast is the ability to cast photos and downloaded movie files to it, otherwise it's a pain for netflix, etc..

not sure about roku..

I have a Amazon File plugged in to my router works great. I have an app to use my iPhone as a remote and I use a wireless mouse.

If you want the paid shit for free then kodi is the answer. You can use a pc or you could buy an android box. Keep in mind that it's basically pirating. It's obvious the first time you use it...You'll even get cam copies of movies still in theaters, live ufc pay per views, etc. Just a heads up.

2nd Kodi. Get a firestick for it. It is amazing. Just about every TV show and movie you can think of
