Please analyze this speech. How do you interpret it?

So many good lines in this scene. I really miss David Mamet movies.

Watch Homicide if you want another good one with some fantastic Mamet dialogue.

ABC = Always be closing.

This doesn't mean sticking a buy this button on everything at every point.

It means closing in terms of getting the clients agreement on what the salesman has just proposed.

For instance, a site I've just looked at. So far after tried to look at samples of what they have and seen nothing. Then asked to register. Why should I bother to stay?

Don't stick the join button in my face before I'm sold on the product.

That is sales basics - do not push for the close straight away, until customer is sold on the value he is getting. And I think the second blackboard in that clip has something about it in 4 words: interest, agreement etc.

A good play that people take far too seriously for the wrong reasons.

So why do so many sites fail to get it?

arock10 09-21-2016 09:45 AM

It is not something everyone can master and some maybe even did not have any sales training etc. And many more various reasons.
