Actually, if you listen to a sniffle, it sounds closer to "white noise", meaning it contains a wide spectrum of sound frequency. Boosting the higher frequency on his mic (or cutting the lower frequency) would have made his sniffles and his voice sound way off, and not "flat" like it did. And of course, there are dozens of audio engineers all the way up the chain from the mic level, to the final broadcast engineer. Anything that sounded a little off would have been noticed.
Trump just had the sniffles, nothing more. There was nothing wrong with Trump's Mic. He's just doing what he always does by refusing to accept responsibility for the things he said, and his poor performance.
