Bluehost any good for shared hosting?

I have some small blogs on a shared hosting plan at Host Gator and I'm thinking about moving them because of HG's poor customer service and support. Bluehost seems like a good alternative and gets better reviews about their support than HG, which seems odd because I think I read that they're both owned by the same parent company.

If anyone here is using Bluehost for shared hosting are you happy with them? Any other shared hosting services I should consider?

A side note that's interesting to me: I seem to recall a lot of discussions here on GFY in years past about hosting with many services promoting themselves but I just did a search and there's barely a peep about or from hosting services here in the last year. Wonder why that is.

Yeah.. I use Bluehost for non adult things..

They're really top of line as far as my research did when I was looking..

I'm assuming your talking adult related blogs, maybe not, but they don't allow it if you are..

For adult.. I really don't have a lot of traffic as I redirect domains more than anything else from registrars..

I do though have a few adult sites that traffic comes right into them and I use https://www.mycyberhosting.net/

It's shared hosting for 50 Euros a year and it's been great the whole time I've been using them. You get to run 10 domains on the account..

They also of course have much larger server offerings, but for what I need it's real good.

The guy who runs it and does all the support is Oliver, and he's been great.

It's one man operation but he's always responsive and gets things done fast. Since it is a one man operation support isn't 24 hours but he definitely gets to you quickly..

If you do use them, for support always use the email address, [email protected]. He gets back to you faster on that. There's a chat option, but the email is much faster. He's got a cell number which is probably the fastest way, but I really never had a need to use it since it's a Euro call..

Check for adult friendliness, not sure about that

Are those 10 different accounts with their own domains/websites or 10 domains that are added onto one account/domain?

Twoface31 09-29-2016 02:42 AM

they are also good....

JohnnyNight 09-29-2016 06:51 AM

That means just one site, but you can add 10 domains to the same site. It's not a reseller account?

To be honest with you, I can't follow what you're asking at this point..

Be much easier just to contact the guy at [email protected]..

Don't use them

They are owned by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endura...national_Group

I was using JustHost until they hit me with the SiteLock scam claiming I had malware on a site. Just Google siteLock scam.

HostGator is also one of theirs. Here's a good description of the scam.
SCAM ALERT: How HostGator Attempted To Extort >$200 Out of Me for SiteLock - HermesThemes.com

SiteLock wanted $150 a month just to scan 10 sites. AND THAT'S BEFORE they will do any cleanup.

HostWinds is cheaper, better and will scan sites for free on request or $1.75 a month for constant scanning. All I had to do was ask them to move 2 WordPress and 8 other sites and they did the rest.

If you want a cheap price, slow site and slow support. They're good.

Otherwise avoid.

Anything linked to EIG tend to suck.

Thanks for the tips about Bluehost not accepting adult. Odd, you'd think with a name like Bluehost they'd be OK with XXX content. I guess I'll avoid them and look into HawkHost and the others mentioned here. Like I said, it seems like in the past a thread like this would get all kinds of spamming from host company reps. Guess no one is interested in shared hosting anymore but for some of my smaller blogs its fine for me.
