Deepwater Horizon. Anyone seen it?

I checked out Deepwater Horizon yesterday in IMAX. Really, really good movie based on the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the gulf of Mexico back in 2010.

The movie focuses on the events leading up to and the destruction of the rig and not the aftermath, but it's still really good. And really worth seeing in IMAX. Check it out!

Is it just another action movie though or does it delve deeper into the reasons & motivations of the company & its employees?

Marky Mark has come a long way....

I would go see it. Looks like a good movie.

I also want to see the accountant.

I don't really care to see a Hollywood "blockbuster" movie about one of the worst oil spill disasters in our time.

Pretty much my exact feelings on it. I remember when i first heard it was coming out i was thinking "oh great hollywood and some insanely overpaid actors are gonna make a fortune off a fuckin disaster which should never have been allowed/possible to happen.

I'll pass 100% on this one...

Yeah OP. I watched it live on television a few years ago.

Kinda, sorta...

It doesn't go too deep. The first half sets up what is happening, and its a pretty good build-up. It's more about the tension of the situation, missed warning signs, etc. It has the predictable moments that explain in simple terms what's going on, and it has some sub titles explaining other parts. It's done pretty well though.

The action and destruction scenes are well done. What I really liked was the sound of it all, and the curious framing of some parts of the movie. For example, some characters deliver some lines in a scene that is shot placing them in the very-far left or very-far right of a scene. It's weird, but it works.

Also, almost all of the movie is shot with super close-ups of the actors, and a mix of hand-held and steady shots.

I wasn't too interested in seeing it myself but just decided to go since there was nothing much else that was interesting. It's well done, and pays tribute to the people who died, etc. (My GF Tracy was balling in the end...)

Yep, it's propaganda, they are rewriting history, whole oil spill was deliberate, that's why there's a movie; it's an attempt to make us believe the spill was a genuine accident

I look at this trailer and think ,"wow... some very talented people obviously put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into making this. Why will I probably not even watch it when I'm channel flipping in a few months?"

it's a damn shame.

I read this a few years ago. https://www.amazon.com/Fire-Horizon-...+water+horizon

Ive never seen a movie that was better than the book.

ContentPimp 10-12-2016 12:18 AM

Would probably try to watch it because I have heard few people now saying it's done quite well.
