a question for urkrainian or russian peeps

I just started watch the sniffer at amazon. a Ukrainian show... very good show.

my questions...
are they speaking Russian or Ukrainian?
are this shows production values consistent with Russian/Ukrainian TV?
are the actors pretty people like in the US or average looking guys like the BBC?
and do these actors look Ukrainian?

thanks...

They all speaking Russian of course.
It's shown by both the Ukrainian and Russian TV.
I didn't get the 3rd question. The actors are average people. They are humans - not reptilians.
What do you mean Ukrainian? They all ethnic Russians. There is no "Ukrainian look". Ukraine was created by the Soviet government (it's a commie thing). It's a territory but not a nation. Just like Texas or Montana in your country.

As about our TV shows, I would suggest you to watch some good ones made by the TNT channel. E.g. this:

A funny show about 4 girls and 4 guys that came to a tropical island to participate in the reality show and then discovered that their TV crew has drowned in the ocean and now nobody knows about them (they've lost somewhere in the Pacific). One of the funniest shows I've seen during this year, actually :)

the actors in American TV are usually what I would term 'pretty boys' while in the UK they are average looking guys. I was uncertain as to the ethnic identify of the Ukraine. Gilligan's island with no subtitles :)

BTW, if you are looking for something real special and if you like the movies similar to The Godfather, you have to watch this one: "Brigada" Reviews & Ratings - IMDb

This is a rather short TV show (only 15 episodes), but it's 1000'x more dynamic, dramatic and realistic than the Sopranos. The story starts in 1989 (Soviet Union) and ends in 2000 (the modern Russia).

You can watch it with English subs here: Brigada (2002) Episode 01 (Subtitles EN, SLO, BG) - Video Dailymotion - I believe there is a better quality version with English translation somewhere.

The soundtrack:

Russian/Ukrainian TV is like the UK one then. The actors are average people - not supermodels and not Schwarzeneggers, as you can see :)

As I said it above, the Ukrainians are ethic Russians. Before the USSR they were caller Malorussians (can be translated as "low Russians"). There also were Belorussians ("white Russians") and Velikorussians ("great Russians"). They were separated to 3 different Soviet republics by the commies. However, in fact all these people belong to the same ethnic group. So they can not look different.
