Server Cost - Average 75 Megabits
What shiuld I be paying for a managed server? I average around 75 Megabits/month.
Any wisdom out there? |
Depends on the server config. If you're using cloud or not, etc.
But not many care about sub 100Mbit transfers. (meaning it's cheap) |

That level of bandwidth is going to be a lesser variable in the pricing chain than these items:
required processor required hard drive setup required level of support required extras (daily backups, etc.) For a best estimate, you will want to list more of what you have, what you want, your growth projection over the next year, and what you are trying to do. Feel free to shoot me an ICQ right now at 147479144 and I can walk you through all of these details. You can also PM me. |
I am new to the board, Phil, but I have known about you for far longer than I have been in the business. I am a fan, too :-)
As for your server, I think Sly and some of the people before me have given you a good answer. It really will depend on the hardware you need plus, since you are all about the higher resolution content, you may want to consider using a CDN. I would be happy to work with you on something that will fit your needs and your budget. Let me know if you would like to discuss this further. I hope you find exactly what you are looking for. |
it's the processor & raid that can cost. As few have said, minus 100mb doesn't cost much & hard space is cheap these days, maybe $100 a month for an i5 :2 cents:

dunno about managed, but i pay roughly 150ish for an 8 core xeon, with 64gb ram, and 600gb ssd with 256 ips spreadinfg across 15+ different class b's and c's, and 100mbps
prob be a lot more if it was managed. i manage all my own stuff so its not a big deal |
