Wifi Alternative in Hotels?

Does anyone know what a good setup is to avoid using wifi in hotels that have horrible wifi connection? Do you upgrade your data plan or use something skype wifi? There's also something called mifi.

With Verizon? What else would I need? I'm not even sure how to do it.

It's definitely brutal. The last time I had to do it I fed my laptop into my iPhone, Verizon service. It works pretty well but Verizon bandwidth is ridiculous so I had to be careful with what I was doing.

I've never really had an issue with wifi in a hotel. Even in Buddapest when I stayed in a 200 year old hotel it seemed to have been fine.

I use an external usb wifi adapter with a larger antenna which takes care of most hotel coverage issues... In a pinch I can use it to build a pringle can directional antenna and hop onto a Starbucks down the street.

fuzebox, I have one of those wifi adapters. They are only good for household. You are required to hit the WP button to make it work, and then you need to hit the button on the router. Otherwise light doesn't stay on. Which adapter do you have?

Advantage of having your own mobile connection is how is more secure then wifi, as wifi data can be sniffed.
