Police: Colchester candidate charged with revenge porn

He's running to represent Colchester in the Legislature, but the divorced businessman is also now facing revenge porn charges.

The alleged victim went to police back in July telling investigators Patrick Liebrecht was posting sexually explicit images of her on social media without her permission.

"Revenge porn" is when someone shares nude photos of someone else to get back at them. Vermont made it a crime last year.

Liebrect is currently vying for one of two Colchester seats in the House of Representatives.

But the 57-year-old is also facing misdemeanor charges for allegedly harassing his ex-girlfriend. The affidavit shows an on-again, off-again relationship dating back to 2008. The woman says she consented to the photos, but also told Liebrecht he was not allowed to show them to anyone.

According to the affidavit, the woman told police once she broke up with him this summer he began posting them on her family and friends' Facebook pages and threatening her saying, "I will make plenty of trouble for you."

When police interviewed Liebrecht they say he admitted to posting the nude photos and comments. Police say he told them he was mad about the breakup and alleged money she owed him and said "she's seeing a Mexican." Police say he told them he posted the photos because he was angry.

I don't get how he plead not guilty after admitting he did it, and why he did it. How can he get off the charges?
