Elon Musk has said a universal income will eventually need to be adopted as human workers are replaced by robots.

"I think there's a pretty good chance we end up with a universal basic income, or something like that, due to automation," the founder of Tesla and SpaceX said in an interview with CNBC. "I'm not sure what else one would do.

"People will have time to do other things, more complex things, more interesting things," he added.

"Certainly more leisure time. And then we've got to figure out how we integrate with a world and future with advanced AI."

Universal currency could do it...on a global print level but it would have to go with universal housing or 3d printed cheap housing...no cheap housing makes UBI a waste...Google had a cheap housing plan in the works and so did amazon...creating their consumers by allowing UBI money to go to google and amazon and not landlords through cheap housing...I would totally fuck Huma!

It may be demoralizing but there are a lot of people that simply don't have the intelligence for the skill level of jobs in the new economy.

Basic income is fine. You can get by on little.

As long as a person has food, modest shelter, and their smartphone with wifi; they are as content as ever. :)

With AI, automation, and robotics there will likely be a time when there simply are not enough jobs for all the people that want them. This likely won't happen very soon, but I can see a time in the not too far off future where this could happen. At that point we have to start wondering what to do with all the people who can't get jobs. A universal income could work. It could lower crime and reduce welfare which could help pay for it, but I don't know how well it would work in the long term.

We have a brave new world just on the horizon.

Tell that to people living in poverty because their jobs went to the Third World.

With globalization, automation, and the fact that growth can not continue indefinitely in an overcrowded world of finite dimensions, universal income is the only solution to avoid a global civil war.

This started to happen in the west about 30 years ago.

Its all very simple really - and the libs could have done it if they were not too busy worshipping satan, being corrupt, and murdering children.

oh boy...a world where there is so much automation, people have nothing better to do than buy drugs, alcohol, lotto tickets. all the things people who are poor do with what little they have.

a more rational approach would be to conduct personality tests on the unemployed, & provide a humane euthanasia to whoever is empirically incapable of producing anything. then do a liberal de-programming on all those who take checks, but can do better. something like a bootcamp, to stomp out the liberalism. ditch the safe space, build up a skin. clean them up, get them to work.

The new Trumpnation will have menial jobs for menial people.

Menial skilled US citizens will deport the illegals and take their place chopping lettuce, picking fruit, plucking chickens, making fast food, working dirty factory jobs, cleaning toilets ...
