We had him for as long as he would have us. Now the old bastard leaves us with everything he created and we're better for it.

RIP - Certainly will be missed...had the pleasure of seeing him in concert in 1988 (loved his music and poetry since the 70s) in Washington DC. And definitely a pleasure.

It's sad, I posted a quote of his a month ago here and how it was depressing. At the time,
I said I don't know what I would do once he died since I grew up listening to his particular music for the soul and now he is actually gone. :Oh crap RIP you great man.

I know how you feel. My first album *ever* was a Ray Charles, for example. It was and has always been music of my life. Never could I imagine his dying. It would be like the sky disappearing or not being blue all of a sudden. All my life, Ray Charles, Leonard Cohen... elements you take for granted as part of existence suddenly disappear.

And all of a sudden, the sky disappeared, things you more than take for granted just go out of existence. A weird, hard blow.

Ah Well...

Thanks for his prolific life

He's always been in the music library...and now he's gone. Sad day indeed.

Just recently discovered him and been catching up with his amazing body of work.

He always keeps me company when I am at my worst - RIP...

Sad indeed... always liked his music.

He had a good run, as did all the other celebrities who died this year.

But times are changing. Fame and celebrity won't be what it was.
