I am OK with Cuba for Cubans.
However, the Communist Castro regime nationalized US assets in Cuba that were bought legally from the Cuban people.

If the government came into your home; ordered your eviction and stole all of your property -- would you just go and harbor no resentment?

People invest their money in the US and Western Europe because there are laws that are above any government -- your investments are safe from arbitrary government confiscation.

Castro really failed his people -- for 50+ years Cuba had no international investment and survived off the scraps of the old USSR. Today there would be shiny Island Resorts in Cuba and real work. Today, ancient US made automobile roam Cuba's tattered streets. Cuba looks like 1960 America did -- I fail to see how the Cuban people have prospered. The Cuban people themselves are industrious -- Castro's government retarded Cuba's economic growth. Socialism can work with Capitalism -- Communism cannot -- we see the result in Cuba.

What good there is in Cuba could have evolved on a Socialist Democracy.

as for property confiscation it was a very different time...people were homeless and starving...my grandmother lost property to the communists...she had a huge house, she got a flat...the house was filled with homeless people, my grandmother went to visit them and help them finish the house...it was post WW2...you make it sound like commies put the $$ in their pockets...not so...capitalist propaganda would want you to believe otherwise...capitalism's worst fear is communism...so it did everything it could to undermine communism...eg. the sanctions...

I was there for 10 days a few months back. I stayed with my mother in law. She is a retired Doctor and her husband is a retired Accountant.

Both professionals
Both extremely intelligent
Both worked hard into their 60's

Her retirement is about 16$ dollars a month
His 15$ a month.

I bought them Mangos for 3.5$ each while I was there. it was the first time they had mangos in about 2 years.


They get steak only when I visit and I always leave money with them.

Coffee grounds are used 2 times.

Then as fertilizer for the veggies they try to grow.

Yes they have health care. Yes its free. When they can get the medicines they need.

Those are free if they wait or they can pay dollars for them.

And it gets much worse for people with no or little US relations.

I am reading a book about him, it was written by someone who worked his security detail for seventeen years. I am only a few chapters in but it's rather interesting.

Castro is a role model to all 3rd world nations, in reality there are 2 options for them:

1) starve under western oppression
2) starve as free people under western sanctions for resisting...

option #2 is the only choice until everybody develops nukes or bacteria to keep invaders away...iran is gaining its freedom the nuclear way and soon will be free from western bullshit...then they can rebuild and work on the inside to repair what the USA has fucked up...
