Looks like it's still cool to kiss Castros ass, despite all the blood on his hands...

I agree that tough political circumstances sometimes need blood and murder to solve them, but that doesn't make Fidel Castro a Mahatma Gandhi....

Weekend at Fidel's

I am OK with Cuba for Cubans.
However, the Communist Castro regime nationalized US assets in Cuba that were bought legally from the Cuban people.

If the government came into your home; ordered your eviction and stole all of your property -- would you just go and harbor no resentment?

People invest their money in the US and Western Europe because there are laws that are above any government -- your investments are safe from arbitrary government confiscation.

Castro really failed his people -- for 50+ years Cuba had no international investment and survived off the scraps of the old USSR. Today there would be shiny Island Resorts in Cuba and real work. Today, ancient US made automobile roam Cuba's tattered streets. Cuba looks like 1960 America did -- I fail to see how the Cuban people have prospered. The Cuban people themselves are industrious -- Castro's government retarded Cuba's economic growth. Socialism can work with Capitalism -- Communism cannot -- we see the result in Cuba.

What good there is in Cuba could have evolved on a Socialist Democracy.

unfair argument...the capitalism they knew at the time was very different than the one today...for example in the USA black people sat at the end of the bus...in the UK children worked with their parents in coal mines...the 3rd world knew capitalist expolitation all too well and had no illusions about the good will of the white man <---important point to keep in mind...so the people of the 3rd world did not know a good capitalism <---important point to keep in mind...

along came communism...new...idealistic...untested at the time...people tired of being slaves or serfs...the establishment was the enemy...communism was the peoples choice and they had a right to try...americans will not understand the brainwash in the USA is too strong :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

I understand that you do not mention US sanctions...it is completely detrimental to everything you wrote...but you can not teflon the USA of guilt in the situation in cuba...you imposed 50 years of economic terrorism upon them and I find it hilarious that anybody blames castro...

as for property confiscation it was a very different time...people were homeless and starving...my grandmother lost property to the communists...she had a huge house, she got a flat...the house was filled with homeless people, my grandmother went to visit them and help them finish the house...it was post WW2...you make it sound like commies put the $$ in their pockets...not so...capitalist propaganda would want you to believe otherwise...capitalism's worst fear is communism...so it did everything it could to undermine communism...eg. the sanctions...

castro is a hero...a freedom fighter...a symbol of resistance for small countries that stood up to the USA...the planet lost one of its freedom fighters and the world is poorer without him...we will continue to resist US invasion and fight for freedom inspired by the life and work of fidel castro...

Here are Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's comments:

Quote:

?It is with deep sorrow that I learned today of the death of Cuba?s longest serving President.

?Fidel Castro was a larger than life leader who served his people for almost half a century. A legendary revolutionary and orator, Mr. Castro made significant improvements to the education and healthcare of his island nation.

?While a controversial figure, both Mr. Castro?s supporters and detractors recognized his tremendous dedication and love for the Cuban people who had a deep and lasting affection for ?el Comandante?.

?I know my father was very proud to call him a friend and I had the opportunity to meet Fidel when my father passed away. It was also a real honour to meet his three sons and his brother President Raúl Castro during my recent visit to Cuba.

?On behalf of all Canadians, Sophie and I offer our deepest condolences to the family, friends and many, many supporters of Mr. Castro. We join the people of Cuba today in mourning the loss of this remarkable leader.?
It almost brings a tear to your eye....that Canada is led by such a ridiculous delusional buffoon. What an idiot. A complete joke.

Cuba is a Caribean Island.

Castro did nothing except close the Hotels and Casinos that could have made Cuba the tourist destination for millions a year.

He loved the idea of communist poverty over capitalist wealth.

capitalist wealth = 80 million indians starved to death under "capitalist wealth"

the reason communism was so popular was capitalism...it was no fluke...they saw how capitalism treated 3rd world people...they wanted a better life...I know this pisses you off :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

all the other carribean islands got capitalism and now they can not afford to buy housing in their own country or live in it...kinda like you paul...cant afford to live in your own bloated capitalism that you preach...you probably rent your parents flat and live off of the proceeds in CZ...

fidel was a true hero of the people...massive balls revolutionary...he is a symbol of resistance against the USA and will continue to inspire millions around the world in their fight for freedom :thumbsup

Reall Failed his people?? That is the understatement of the year.

I was there for 10 days a few months back. I stayed with my mother in law. She is a retired Doctor and her husband is a retired Accountant.

Both professionals
Both extremely intelligent
Both worked hard into their 60's

Her retirement is about 16$ dollars a month
His 15$ a month.

I bought them Mangos for 3.5$ each while I was there. it was the first time they had mangos in about 2 years.

They get steak only when I visit and I always leave money with them.

Coffee grounds are used 2 times.

Then as fertilizer for the veggies they try to grow.

Yes they have health care. Yes its free. When they can get the medicines they need.

Those are free if they wait or they can pay dollars for them.

And it gets much worse for people with no or little US relations.

But it's probably difficult to care about these people and introduce sanctions against them))

Castro is a role model to all 3rd world nations, in reality there are 2 options for them:

1) starve under western oppression
2) starve as free people under western sanctions for resisting...

option #2 is the only choice until everybody develops nukes or bacteria to keep invaders away...iran is gaining its freedom the nuclear way and soon will be free from western bullshit...then they can rebuild and work on the inside to repair what the USA has fucked up...
