It's all in the niche - applying my adult industry skills to adult IM
So, I've only been a member for a short time here, but one thing I've noticed, scrolling through the posts is that a lot of beginners make the mistake of diving into 'adult industry', 'porn', cater to the masses type hype.
While I'm new to adult affiliate marketing - I've been dabbling in IM for years on and off. Life happened a few years back, I was finishing my college degree late in life, and needed a way to make money - and afford rent in NYC. In my younger years ? I?ll admit to dabbling in life as a ?working girl? from the age of 18 on and off while in and out of college, traveling the world, and working to pursue a journalism career. I decided to put my years of adult industry experience to use ? and start my own outcall bodyrub/ fetish business in NYC. I would have made a lot more money starting an escort service ? but there was a lot more competition ? and a lot more distrust among girls in the industry who had been scammed by shitty agency owners who took over 60% of their money and charged bottom barrel prices. Having worked ? I couldn?t in good consciousness start an escort agency. I wanted girls to have more freedom of choice and set their own limits so to speak. I also wanted to succeed. Anyway, what I?ve learned from becoming fairly successful in my industry ? qualifying ?successful? as in for our NICHE ? I?ve learned that niche is everything. While our blog needs way more content ? and there are a million things I need to do to add value to our actual website property ? I discovered micro niches while writing content for our website. By using Google Analytics & Webmaster Tools ? I found that over half of our traffic came from organic google searches. While that evil empire no longer shares as much data with us as they used to ? what they do share is invaluable. If you know just a few of the search terms people are using to find your site ? you can create entire microblogs around those topics, or add more of that type of content to your existing site. Sure ? porn may have millions of searches per month ? but if you can?t capture any of it, what?s the point? It?s better to narrow it down ? and I mean ? right down to ?teen girls in cotton panties? vs. teen porn. The more specific you are ? and the more targeted your audience ? the higher the chances you have of converting that traffic. And as many here already know ? there?s lots of money to be made in ?Fetish? (not general fetish, specific fetishes). For those of us starting out ? it?s easy to get distracted by every other opportunity out there. To research too much, and kept discovering ?goldmines? without ever completing anything we start. But, the second thing I?ve learned is that customer service is equally important to niche. Now, unlike most of you ? I?m directly interacting with my clients. Taking time to set them up with the right girl for them ? and visa versa. I?ll never send a girl who specializes and enjoys feminization sessions to a Wall Street Exec looking for a touchy feely rubdown. She will quit, and I?ll lose him as a client. This translates to the affiliate industry in other ways. Like content. You have to respect your audience. You can?t just cut and paste and throw up the same pics and galleries that everyone else has. If you want to be successful ? you HAVE to treat this like a real business. You can?t just throw up another whitelabel cam site and expect to make money. Cater it, tailor everything. If you have a few hundred bucks to spare ? invest in original content and pics. Throw up ads on craigslist or Backpage, and find your own models. Don?t forget ? niche specific. Maybe your site centers around a nylon foot fetish ? it?s easy to find college girls willing to model for you (but don?t be a creep about it ? keep it professional) ? for reasonable rates. Something else I?ve learned ? keep your customers/audience happy. Reward the loyal/repeat buyers/clients. Throw them something free every now and then. Ask for feedback. When I send a new girl out on a call to a regular, I always follow up to see how the session went. My regulars come back to me ? when they could easily just go to backpage ? because they know I care about their needs. When a client has a bad experience ? I offer him another session with another girl ? at only her rate (I forgo my cut). Sure, I don?t always MAKE money, but I don?t lose a valuable client. What?s my point with that? How does it apply to you? I?m saying offer more than just the same old experience they can get for free everywhere. I can?t tell you what that means ? you have to figure out how to apply it to your niche. Maybe it means throwing in 1-2 free cam sessions if they purchase a package, maybe it means sending a free sex toy if that?s your business. But at all times ? let your audience/customer/clients know your business needs and appreciates them. This is kind of a brain dump ? and I hope to contribute valuable content and refine my ideas while I?m learning from ? and sharing ? my knowledge on GFY. That said, it?s 2am ? and I can always come back and edit another day ☺ Hope this helps someone ! |
