250,000+ Japanese JAV DVDs - We need Affiliates
 

Hi everyone,

New here. We offer a service that provides direct access to millions of Japanese products (in this case, more precisely, Japanese adult DVDs, over 250,000 of them), to customers outside of Japan as well as any adult products available on sites like Amazon Japan (toys, lingerie, and all kinds of other wild/unique goods only found in Japan).

We have absolutely no idea how/where to market our service. Mind you, most of our sales are for non-adult related products (thus far). However, considering we provide access to virtually every Japanese adult DVD/VHS/LD ever released and sold on major websites (like Yahoo Japan, Amazon Japan), we know we're missing out.

We're just getting started in offering an Affiliate program. Any tips/hints, would be massively appreciated. We presently offer a flat $10 (or 5%, whichever is higher) commission on any order resulting from an affiliate click (can be placed within 60 days of the original visit). There are countless DVDs that sell in Japan for as little as 1 yen (1 cent), older/out of print titles. We add our small fee for our service (9.9% + $5) to the price, and of course, shipping cost, and that's it. Thus, for smaller orders, we'll take a loss on the commission, but it's a very small price to pay to acquire a new customer.

As I don't wish for this to come across like a plug/promo for our site, I'll post the link later, should anyone inquire. For now, we'd simply like any feedback on where we can find affiliates to promote our service, feedback on the fee/commission, or even the service itself. In short it's a proxy buying service which allows you to browse the selection of Japanese goods on major Japanese sites. Browse in your language, process the order on our site, and we take care of the rest. Search by ASIN, Barcode, catalog number, keywords, etc.

Any feedback, assistance, and ideally- potential relationships with legitimate, decent affiliates are elcome.

We've been providing personal shopping services for years. We are Tokyo based.
Where are you?

The main problem you are going to face is that most of the DVDs and Blu-rays made in Japan are not region free so basically east Asian customers only.We've been selling JAV from the US for more than 10 years. Shipping worldwide is tricky for this stuff.

There definitely is a demand from those outside of Japan to get physical AV media. I think you've a good idea especially with also allowing users to buy used titles which do sometimes go for pennies. There are other sites that are based out of Japan that sell abroad, but none do the used angle so best of luck there. I do know one site not based out of Japan that seems to sell tens of thousands (or more) titles, but they're all just DVD-R's which brings their legality into question.

Promotion though may be tough. The best thing would be banners promoting your site being put on sites affiliates run, but your options are limited to pretty much blogs nowadays.

If you're just selling the titles as a third party (ie, you do the shopping for the customers at places like Rakuten, Amazon JP, etc.), then you probably don't have deals directly with the studios (and please correct me if I'm wrong here) so you couldn't give affiliates images and videos to use.

There's no question about it. People selling DVD-R's are straight up thieves.

You're probably right, but we don't work with every single studio this site in particular has so I can't say they're 100% stolen. The ones from our studio partners on the other hand...
