Electoral College Members Demand Russia-Trump Intelligence Briefing Before Vote Next Week: Gothamist

Ten electoral college members are demanding a briefing from U.S. intelligence officials about Donald Trump's ties to Russia before the vote next Monday to formalize the results of the presidential election. In an open letter to National Intelligence Director James Clapper, the electors cite the extensive reports of Trump and his allies' entanglements with Russia, including the recently reported CIA finding that hacking efforts before the election were carried out by Russia in an effort to aid Trump's campaign.

The letter, signed by Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi's daughter and former congresswoman Christine Pelosi, among others, reads in part:

The Electors require to know from the intelligence community whether there are ongoing investigations into ties between Donald Trump, his campaign or associates, and Russian government interference in the election, the scope of those investigations, how far those investigations may have reached, and who was involved in those investigations. We further require a briefing on all investigative findings, as these matters directly impact the core factors in our deliberations of whether Mr. Trump is fit to serve as President of the United States.

Call me crazy, but I have a feeling Mitch McConnell might secretly want this to happen. I just read today that if all of Trump's nominees for his cabinet are approved he will take office with the most conservative cabinet in history. McConnell then gets rid of Trump so Pence can take over and they now have a very conservative President leading the historically conservative cabinet. In the end, the Republicans get exactly what they wanted, control of all three houses and a career conservative Republican in the White House and Trump nowhere to be seen.
