It is 10:10 a.m. in Florida. West coast near Tampa, reporting. It's 78 degrees F. And a high of 82... no snow in sight.

-20F last night, -5 today and to be -15 tonight. :(

We are at a balmy +8 right now. High is supposed to be 13. Yesterday supposed to still be cold then a warm up of sorts for the rest of the week.

I just finished running the snow blower across mine and 3 of my neighbors driveways so worked up a good sweat.

Western Wisconsin. It's been above average temps here until the last two weeks. And in a few days, we'll be back up to 30F.

I can believe it, I suppose the particles in the ice crush closer & closer as it freezes harder, creating a rough jagged surface on the edge of the layer. Is this correct?

not sure how it is there, but roads are generally plowed and salted after snow falls so it gets wet in between the deep freezes then ends up smooth as glass. at -20 i don't think salt melts it either so in some places they will lay down sand just to build up the traction.
