Drastic loss of Google blog traffic in the last month!
Hello guys. I noticed really drastic loss of search engine traffic on my blogs in the last month - it dropped to the half of the traffic! Seems some changes in Google algoritm?
Do anyone from you experience the same loss of google traffic on affiliate blogs or not? Blog has been live for 2 years with almost stable amount of traffic. https://s28.postimg.org/58suw741p/image.png https://s28.postimg.org/845y3281p/ga2.png Only change I made is switch from HTTP to HTTPS one month ago... |
better get used to it... :(
|
that sucks my blogs are doing better
|
September 15-November 15 I saw about a 10% drop in traffic, December I've seen a really large drop in traffic. Did you use Tumblr by any chance?

Are you sure you did set up the ssl cert correctly?

Been a serious algo update the last week.

Have noticed similar traffic drop on all of my blogs, even those where is no SSL... Seems some google cleaning action in progress... |
Check your website backlink profile ;)

The algorithm is continuously updated with small tweaks instead of big updates like panda and pinguin since matt cutts got cutt..
So yes there are things going on but nothing that big that your site suddenly sees a heavy drop in rankings. Check back on what you did (or didn't) do with your sites the last couple of months to see if maybe something you were doing in the past suddenly doesn't work anymore for SEO |

WiredGuy : not Tumblr, all my blogs are on WordPress.

Correct? |
I read on several forums about big changes in rankings but I haven't seen any change in my site and google didn't release any update in their blogs.
|
Mopek1: of course it is WordPress on my own domains.

Your payment was late this month to Google :upsidedow
Google farts the world sniffs .... |
Any kind of warning message in GWT?
|
Where do your backlinks come from?
|
I don't know if your blog has adult content or not, but you probably know about Google "war on porn" and the attempt to (blacklist) not promote adult sites and SEO....if your blog went unscathed, I can't think of anything else that the above ppl haven't suggested already. Are you updating it regularly with good content?
|
I have a overall 20 to 40% cut on my sites. Its looks like google favor sites with huge backlink profile if you check the search.

I pretty sure this had nothing to do with your backlinks.
You must have done something wrong while migrating to HTTPS. Make sure you follow the HTTPS migration guidelines and fix what you might have missed. |
I just checked and see a decrease in google traffic of 10% since December 13th.

Been steady for 6 months with small growth for me, but with is goes somewhere fast its always down, lol
|
The last 3 weeks in particular have been brutal for me, upwards of 30% drop. In my particular case, it has to do with my backlinks being changed to meta refreshes instead of 301's. I didn't expect the rankings to have dropped so fast or so much though.

The same here. About 30% decrease and really huge fluctuations in different days. At the same time low quality tubes with stolen content are on the first page. I hope to see Google dead, as they want to kill us.

Google has been trimming down the amount of results it retrieves for surfers going on at least 8 years now. Adult and Mainstream. It's not just Adult.
This is aside from the fact that for some ungodly reason that will never make sense, Google Geniuses believe in giving the most exposure to mega sites that already have massive exposure. These sites don't even need to be indexed anymore. Nobody fucking goes to Google to find Facebook, Pinterest, Wikipedia, Twitter, etc. How many people bypass search engines and go directly to the mega porn tubes now? Yet those tubes continue to dominate searches for adult content. Until they change their priorities back to providing surfers with a variety of results and become an actual "search engine" again, the more lesser and obscure sites will continue dropping off the radar. |
Look around. Alot of the webbies who were gung ho on spawning networks of cookie cutters sites like blogs and tgps are no longer active on the boards.
|
it never went to better in the past 6-7 years...

You have set up a new GWT property for the https havent you? if youve moved from http to https and continue to check the http version in GWT then youll see your traffic disappear to nothing. Its probably still there just being reported against the https
