WTF Google? SE traffic dropping in the past 2 months

Anyone else experiencing the same?

Is this just for porn?

WiredGuy 12-27-2016 04:45 PM

Since Sep 10th, it's been dropping steadily with the largest dip happening Dec 10th. It's been pretty awful.

You are not alone.
Google has just released 2 algorithm updates. One in September and one in December.
Many porn sites are affected.
It's time to audit your site quality.

"I molest Google for a living."

Looks like you're on the receiving end now...

I've been there, it sucks.

j3rkules 12-27-2016 05:31 PM

Yeah, I noticed some changes as well earlier on this month.

Are you optimized for mobile? Google has said quietly that they are rewarding those that are ??

TFCash 12-27-2016 06:44 PM

we've started to see increases in 75% of our sites since middle of Oct, the other 25% are the same or small declines. Mobile ready has a lot to do with the 25% that haven't seen any increase as they are still the one's needing to be remastered.

get used to it...

Linkster 12-27-2016 07:45 PM

Just some quiet insight...if you aren't optimized for mobile, prepare to leave about 80% of your money on the table over the next year or so

DirtyDanza 12-27-2016 08:49 PM

Same thing happening in mainstream as well

ZENRA 12-27-2016 09:48 PM

I just checked our analytics stats for Google-based traffic and it's actually steadily going up.

No big drops this year (aside from predictable ones like Thanksgiving and Christmas Day). Some days are higher than others, but no gradual sink into the negatives.

As others have wrote, ensure your pages are optimized for Google and provide a good and thorough user experience.

Paul&John 12-28-2016 12:50 AM

Something up something down. Doesnt matters if its mobile optimized or not (at least on my end)

Penguin 2016, guys. Backlinks are worth less now. You need good engagement metrics. SEO techniques from 5 years ago are almost irrelevant today.

some basics still work, but you need to work more on seo than 5yrs ago, no doubt.

nico-t 12-28-2016 12:00 PM

all my mainstream sites had a huge boost the last few months.

fuzebox 12-28-2016 12:30 PM

Is your site better for the surfer than the sites currently occupying the top 10 results for your keywords?

trevesty 12-28-2016 01:19 PM

I go up by about 7-10% monthly the past few months... and almost all of that is mobile traffic.

biiiglia 12-28-2016 02:59 PM

Consider installing a SSL certificate.

Jigster715 12-28-2016 04:21 PM

We've been seeing fluctuations as well.

We are putting our efforts into
1. Engagement
2. Mobile traffic
3. SSL for network
4. SEO
5. SEO
6. SEO
