Anyone specialize in SEO? Business question for you

My paysite sales keep going down and I'm looking to supplement my income by doing marketing services like lead generation and SEO marketing for businesses.

I was wondering if there a specific area that might be good to specialize in?

For example I dont know if I shoud specialize in Local SEO
Or maybe doing SEO for e-commerce companies. SEO for startups. etc.
Or something else? :helpme

Im new to all this so just lookign to get a book and go through it, just looking for a direction to go into that might be good.
Thanks for any feedback :thumbsup

do SEO for something that brings you sales

start with analyzing everything seo-related and then narrow it down to something you can offer as a service.

if you don't see the whole picture at least roughly, it will be harder to focus on something specific.

besides, seo is constantly changing so you will have to stay up to date with new stuff all the time.

That's actually a good answer. It all depends on your product, niche, where the majority of your sales come from and how much of that you can scale up if anything, will it benefit from local traffic or not, etc.

I'm assuming you've done SEO in the past? Which niches / areas of expertise were you most successful in? I'd focus your efforts on that and then branch out.

Can't learn SEO from a book, have to try test fail and learn. Plus each niche has its own SEO tactics. Pick a niche that you know something about, have to know what the people want exactly.

Try googling 'SEO service' > About 14,700,000 results (1.01 seconds)

Define why anyone should retain your services?

You need a track record and a plan -- good luck.

I would invest $5K in attending SEO seminars in your local region -- both to get ideas and to scope out the competition. Then make up you mind ...

PS my bread and butter has been SEO related since 2001 and I would never start an SEO business now if I was looking to start a niche biz.

Very well said. You need to know and be enthusiastic about the niche you are going to enter.
