Father Mulchahy on M*A*S*H, played by William Christopher, died today of cancer at 84. :(

He wasn't a huge celebrity but played an iconic character for 11 seasons back when people watched regular TV. I was a huge M*A*S*H fan, and still watch it from time to time today. I thought he was a great in that role, and was one of the few characters who lasted the entire TV series.

Apart from his legendary TV role, I share another connection with William Christopher. He adopted an infant son who turned out to be severely autistic. His son was ultimately admitted to the Deveroux facility next to UCSB (UC Santa Barbara), where I attended college. Mr. Christopher received local attention for his connection and donations to the local autism facility. In addition to being a great actor, he was a philanthropist - much like his character on M*A*S*H.
