I just had an hour-long massage of pure pain!
Call me crazy, call me old-fashioned, but I like when the massage feels good, not when it feels bad!
I do understand that it was for the best, and now my muscles feel great, but hot damn that was some ridiculous pain to go through. |
good for you then :thumbsup

why do these therapists say you need to feel the pain to make it all better...
ffs, like you say Reggie, you only wanted to relax :) |

Deep tissue means deep... tissue.
I hear that getting it done regularly lessens the pain over time. |
Good for you! Self-sufficient information!

I often went for deep tissue massages when I had sciatic nerve issues. Didn't solve the sciatic condition...but damn it was a good excuse, lol.

Deep tissue has it's place but you can't go deep tissue right off the bat, anyone who recommends that doesn't know what they're talking about. Just like anything else massage pressure needs to be gradually increased with little to start and more pressure in later sessions. I have had deep massage by a chinese massage therapist and she went all out on day one, I was practically dying. However I've felt gentler massage to start and even that helped. It's just logical to start slow and work your way up.
