Are adblockers killing your profits?
|
Begging will not work. I just sign-in OAuth with a special Google email for these sites -- they can have the emails of all the other sites that do this and spam each other.
|
even the big ones are experiencing problems with adblockers...

As long as they accept your spam email address I can deal with it. Otherwise, I will move on information is always available. Some, sites show ads that are not trackers to users of adblockers.
Probably if they (these websites) wanted $10 a year for the content I might pay for it (from some I like). That's more than they probably make off my ad impressions. |
The adblockers don't work with my CyberSEO plugin. The ads built into videos can not be blocked by browsers. Oops :pimp
|
what ads in videos you mean ? like watermarks ? these are with sponsors domains, so...
or you mean text descriptions for videos linked to sponsor ? Quote:

IMHO, refusing to show content until you unblock ads is barely a step above "unblockable" popups. Webmasters becoming more and more desperate for revenue piss off surfers by doing this sort of shit; surfers then find ways to bypass this, and we're back to square one. It's an arms race to the bottom.
|
I setup on some of my "free" sites Ad Block detector. It shows a message that says: if you disable AD Block, you will see all conten of this site for free, otherwise ... something like "go and fuck yourself!".
It's hard to say, increased profits or not, but at least did not fall.. + Extra motivation for surfers. |
Fuck banners. Focus on getting prepaid product placements like some of us have done the last 10 years. Banners should never be your primary income. Adapt or die

For example, when Facebook offers me 3 "related links", I usually skip any links to forbes.com, because I know it's probably not going to work. |
Ad Blockers are used by people who don't want to see ads. So how great are the ads you have that will make them click and buy?
Even selling clicks the advertiser need to make some sales or he will cancel. |
There are other, easier ways to bypass adblocker. I doubt this one works very well.

A video player window is the best place to be used for ads. For example, I can play the same videos as ign.com (put any video source there), but with my own ads. E.g. every video about a new computer game will send a visitor right to my amazon account where he can instantly buy it. The same way works if you sell toys, electronics, t-shirts or even cars, houses and whole islands ;) |

Put a REAL network ad on your demo .. https://s24.postimg.org/q6me15nyt/block_cyberseo.png |
On Mobile especially (mainly mainstream) the ads are so out of hand, you can see why ad blockers are used so much now.
Some long pages have just a small paragraph of text for the actual content and the rest is dominated by ads or being fooled into where to click for the next page. The page jumps around while the ads are loaded which leads to mis-tappping the wrong link and so many mainstream sites look identical in layout with all the click-bait shit. It reminds me of the early circle jerk adult sites from years ago and its a lottery where you'll end up depending on what you may mis-click/tap on. I never browse now without ad block or use an adblock browser on mobile devices. The amount of ads are ruining the net. |

wired.com has a variation - you can start reading the article, but after a short period (or perhaps it's triggered by scrolling a certain amount) a beg screen covers the content. You can reload and scroll a bit further, but the more times you do this, the more quickly the begs seem to trigger. Eventually I could only read a few sentences each time. I'm not really sure whether making someone reload a page 10 or 15 times to read the article is going to encourage them to whitelist their site... or just piss them off.
(I'm not even sure why I get the begs - I don't have an ad blocker installed...) |
I wonder how long it's going to be before someone comes up with an app or plugin that does the reverse - instead of blocking ads, it pulls content? Even sites that I would have previously considered reputable are now running the same bullshit clickbaity ads that everyone else is. A short article will have significantly more screen space devoted to ads, so why not just use an app/plugin to display the text only?

Ads suck
|
Ads are killing the porn industry. So do I worry about blocking them? Not a bit.
Once everyone blocks ads, we can get back to making money. |

Would less free porn help or hinder your ability to make money? |
I used a pop up plug in for wordpress that used to generate quite a decent amount of money but there have been some changes to android phones that block this sort of pop up and now it hardly makes any money. I still earn from the other ads thou. Wish I could find some sort of unblockable pop up plug in that looked decent on both mobile and desktop.

Never, ever, beg.
|
I've blocked adblockers. You ain't getting in for totally free. Don't care if they go to another site, next site can have the leaches. Want to see my content without paying? Then let me sell you. If not, fuck off.
|
Ads are fueling Google, FB, Twitter, Snapchat and 10,000s of other sites. Maybe there's a reason they make money and some here struggle. Could it be so few of your visitors care about what you're selling?
|
if you don't get charged for the impression what does it matter? You lose a bit of volume but there is plenty still out there. Or am I mistaken and we DO get charged that impression which would be bullshit from the ad networks.

how else could you get the people to the paysites if not with advertisement? and last not least ads on free sites are maybe one of the last reasons why people should chose a membership in a ad-free-membersite. you are thinking maybe a bit too much in the good old times where porn was still a product. today porn is just the magnet to get the masses and sell them whatever. btw: did you know that in ALL eras of the net, the users worldwide spended 0,25% of their whole budget in porn? and you know how much they spend today for porn/dating etc? STILL 0,25% !!! astonishing, not ? greetings thommy |
