Fuck You Westworld.

Loved the original movie.... and now, I love the HBO Series. (started off slow, but picked up and got pretty dam good)

It has been getting great reviews, great ratings, handful of Golden Globe noms and critics awards, so, after season one has ended, when is season 2 of this new hit series slated to be released???

Try, "sometime in 2018."

Yes, this hit series is gone for over a full year.

The main reason released is: "The series is quite difficult to film, what with all the special effects, and takes a great deal more time than a regular series."

BULLSHIT. When HBO or any other company is sitting on a hit series, the ONLY reason production stops is because the lead actors in the series are renegociating their contracts for more money. (happens all the time with hit series) And when the talks go south, actors walk and production stops.

That's probably why they shot Anthony Hopkins in the head on the last episode, as a safety net for the producers, because if they don't settle on a new salary, they can easily write him out of the series.

I'm all for actors getting their due, but they are ruining their own series. A year is a long time, and other networks already have their robo series all lined up ready for release. This time next year, there will be 3 or 4 new robo series out and Westworld won't be as exciting or as original anymore.

Big mistake by the cast of Westworld to squeeze for a raise to the point of non production. I'm sure the execs over at HBO are really pissed at all the money they are losing as well.

But hey, at least we got one good season out of them. See you 'sometime in 2018' for season 2. :1orglaugh

Typically money isn't as much of an issue after just one season. HBO is known for locking actors in for multiple seasons before they even shoot the first season. Of course, the actors never know if the show is going to be a hit or not or picked up for another season or not.

In the case of a lot of these shows, it is a combination of things. One is scheduling. In Westworld's case, there is a decent chance some of the actors have other jobs they have to finish before coming back to the show. The other is production time. High-quality shows take a while to write, shoot, edit, etc.

Would you rather wait a little longer and get something that is great or have it sooner and be not as good?

Damn, thanks for the heads up!

Now I know not to binge until around October or November.

* Yes, I know binge means all in one session, maybe two, but I have two more grandkids.

I think this delay of season 2 is because of Game of Thrones, but it's just my opinion.

On the other hand: I don't think Hopkins died in the last episode :) Watch the episode when Bernard kills Theresa. The machine behind the glass is creating a new android which might be Hopkins. Only question for me is: was it the android version of Hopkins who got shot in the back of its head in the last episode or was it the real Dr. Ford? If it was the real Ford, then I believe he made an android of himself and implemented his consciousness into it. That guy is a fucking maniac :)

It's written to spin as many series out of a single idea that has little room to expand.

We know the premise malfunctioning robots. The First series went nowhere until the final episode. The characters were mostly clones of other characters from other TV shows but in a cowboys outfit. Some of the scenarios were also cloned from other TV shows.

The original movie set the bar way higher than this TV show.

If you wan to see a good example of why NOT to rush to a second season, look to True Detective as an example.

I thought it has ended in 10th episode. Isn't the story over?

Great great series, I hope they will be able to continue on the same level when they return to season 2 sometime in 2036.

Loved it. I was hooked from the beginning but couldn't watch some of the shows at first so I had to binge-watch during some dreary Sunday.

Really, really good. I've watched the whole series twice already, some episodes 3 times.

The best are the reveals and plot twists. There are hints here and there about what is really going on but they are so subtle sometimes you miss them completely on the first viewing.

The makers of the show really went out of their way to cram-cam the show with detail and nuance. Great show.

I love the show but will probably forget about it till its starts showing again.

That means you've got a year to catch up on all the Tyler Perry movies you've missed.
