People and their phones

Is there anything more annoying than going out with people and all they do is text on their phone? It's like an addiction

MiamiBoyz 01-18-2017 02:44 PM

Your posts rank higher in annoyance since you ask.

Scott McD 01-18-2017 03:02 PM

People taking pics of their food at a restauraunt still rates as my most annoying "cell phone related" issue.

And i still don't get that "checking in" shit that everyone does on FB.

"Ooh ooh, just checked in at blah blah"

Who cares ?? Go fucking eat. And no we don't want pics of the food...

mechanicvirus 01-18-2017 03:03 PM

PBBC maintains a no-phone policy during ALL it's meetings.

.

Regular selfie is much more annoying for me.
Taking photos of other things much less so, as taking photos of something is pretty normal and taking a selfie is ridiculously moronic.

the other day i saw this airhead chick who was standing there with a normal bored face, then pulled out the cellphone, instant fake smile / duckface combo, snapped a selfie, and the instant the photo was taken her face snapped back to normal bored... The narcissistic shallow facebook fakeness live and uncut summarized in 4 seconds flat :1orglaugh fucking pathetic :1orglaugh

you were too scared to say something to her.

Rochard 01-18-2017 05:47 PM

When I am eating in public and put my phone away. Always.

pimpmaster9000 01-18-2017 06:06 PM

I did not give the little cocksucker a tip.

Actually what is there to be said? Even if you are bravest guy in the world?
Would you go around and "say something" to random people when they do some stupid (but not threatening to others) thing?

Smart phone = stupid person

Seriously has anyone noticed the phenomenon where someone buys a smart phone and suddenly they think they're a Starship Commander? But the truth is they're just an annoying putz that looks at their phone when they're talking to you.

Paul Markham 01-19-2017 01:37 AM

They spend hours sharing stuff no one is interested in.

peter.clickpapa 01-19-2017 03:13 AM

Couple months back i went to a shopping mall and i saw a young couple (around 16-17 y/o) sitting in mcdo's, both on their phones - girl was chatting on facebook and the guy was playing hearthstone... Best date of the year, fucking disgusting and pathetic. If you can't talk to the person you meet (bc you dont have a mutual topic or just dont give a fuck about the other) then dont even fucking go out with them :D

Stupid world we live in, ladies and gentlemen. :(

rowan 01-19-2017 03:56 AM

The number of people videoing and taking selfies during the fireworks display on NYE was ridiculous.

It's a fucking event, not a backdrop for your "my life is so great and it's better than yours" fantasy shit.

People go to concerts and practically video the full thing. So you are watching a live show through a small screen. So you can watch (or share) later.

It's the most pointless shit ever...

I was sitting with the gf on a terrace with a cold beer, relaxing and looking around and saw this about 5 meters in front of me. Somehow standing up, walking towards her and say "you pathetic bitch" didn't really cross my mind :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

A hungarian dj was complaining about it a year or two ago, saying that he sees the crowd at a party and what they do is they are on their phones the whole time, not even dancing or talking to anybody. When the drop comes, they just move for 5-10 seconds and then back to their phones. He said he was sure that they were posting on facebook how well they were feeling themselves, while actually they were just there with stone cold faces, not even listening to the music or giving anything back to the dj... Cmon, when I go to a party i never take out my phone, I'm there for the music and the atmosphere. Well, truth is, in addition, I don't take it out because I'm too shitfaced to do so :banana

Linkster 01-19-2017 05:04 AM

Since this is a business forum...here goes:

Instead of complaining about it - recognize it as a money making opportunity!!!

If you see that they are on the phone all of the time - monetize it

Right now advertising on FB is so cheap...like when Google Adwords first started and you could get words like porn for $0.05 a click

Snapchat and Instagram are the next two - if you haven't figured out how to monetize them...you are behind the curve

Make money off those duckface :thumbsup

And for those complaining about the couple - before the smart phones - they would have sat their not talking to each other....again...just recognize it and make money from it

This is why one of my lines is optimized for a 6inch screen.

Spunky 01-19-2017 08:19 AM

I find it rude and poor etiquette. pay attention to your guests and leave the damn phone alone!

Concert in 1987 - cigarette lighters glowing at the end of an outstretched arm
Concert in 2017 - smartphone screens glowing at the end of an outstretched arm

Most are probably videoing it to share with (brag to) others, rather than to personally relive the moment that they're half missing. Social media has created a whole breed of narcissists that try to make their lives look exceptional.

(Why is everyone in this thread sounding like a grumpy old man? :1orglaugh )

It's called 'being social'. You can read up on that on some websites before you actually go out into the world and plan on meeting some people who aren't relatives.

I'd say making a random negative comment to a stranger for doing something mildly irritating is called being an asshole. How do you think they'd respond? Is that the social part?

exactly :1orglaugh imagine sitting at a table, drinking beer and talking with the person youre with. While talking you observe someone taking a selfie.
"Sorry, we are having fun talking and relaxing, but I have to give that selfie taking stranger over there a piece of my mind."
You get up, walk towards the stranger, say "jesus bitch, you're pathetic!", stroll back to the table, "Where were we?"
Sounds very normal, social and not being an insane idiot at all :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Reminds me of someone I tend to look up to in their forward thinking who predicts in 20 years people will disappear into their houses ...put their VR contacts in...and you wont see them for a month

Of course he made 10s of millions when everyone said the internet was a fad...and then took that money and bought Zucks parents shares in Facebook...as well as investing in Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat before they were a thing - He's got a pretty good track record of being right LOL :1orglaugh

Seems every teenager do it

Google Expert 01-20-2017 01:43 AM

It means you are not interesting enough to the person who's with you.

They'd rather browse some shit than talk to you.
