Thoughts on the Nintendo Switch?

rogueteens 01-18-2017 10:45 PM

it seems totally irrelevant. I think it will be another Nintendo turkey.

Looks interesting, but I'm not getting one.

It is always nice to see something new, but I don't understand why each player has its own screen while playing multiplayer games in a split screen mode.

Nintendo is still aimed at 5 year olds.

I'll pass...

I rather have my xbox one.

beerptrol 01-19-2017 11:01 AM

I'll stick with my old NES system

mineistaken 01-19-2017 11:31 AM

I don't know what it is and not interested in googling, so voted no.

This is for kids.

Real gamers use a PC. Console gamers have to get a new system every other year. My PC is a bit old - it is a custom Alienware - but I can play anything, old or new. In fact, one of my favorite games is Red Alert 95 which came out in 1995.

I remember WII, it was not powerful as it was sort of very different console than xbox/ps. That was kind of different style, almost a different thing.
So maybe this is similar case as well.

I was a huge fad with motion controls. Old folks homes were buying the things for Wii bowling. Was big and then totally died, can't see it happening again with the hook being it is portable. People have phones and tablets these days

This is going to be another stinker. $400 in Canada and they had the nerve not to include a pack-in game. They are gouging people on the accessories too. Of course they will limit the supply to make sure it sells out at launch and is hard to find. But it's a glorified handheld with only 2 1/2 hour battery life and only 1 good game at launch (that's also available on another system). Couple that with limited 3rd party support and they're setting themselves up for another console that sells less than 20 million before it dies off.

My kid spent $50 pre ordering on. Which means I will be picking up the remainder as it comes out close to his birthday. He's gonna be 8. That should tell you all you need to know about the Switch.
