Miguel Ferrer, who had played Owen Granger on NCIS: Los Angeles since 2012 and co-starred with Jill Hennessy on CBS? Crossing Jordan, died today of cancer. He was 61.

The son of late actor Jose Ferrer, he also was to reprise his role as FBI Agent Albert Rosenfeld on David Lynch?s revival Twin Peaks on Showtime.

I remember him from Miami Vice and The Stand - he always seemed to have played the bad guy or a cop. He was also in Star Trek "Search For Spock". He had a long resume:

Yes, cancer is indeed a horrible disease. I hope his passing was peaceful.

He was awesome and really stood out in whatever I saw him in. The Stand comes to mind, and he added a lot to that great film.

Also, I can't think of him without remembering his band Silverspoon (the greatest band nobody ever heard). They covered some Beatles songs for the 1976 movie Helter Skelter, and really made the songs uniquely their own. And they were very good.

I don't think they realized at the time that anything Beatles is gold to Beatles fans. Consequently, I don't believe the complete recordings of the songs existed for long. Which is very unfortunate, because to this day I wish I could rock out to them. I'd gladly pay good money for the opportunity to do so.
