What speed can you upload from home?

We use to have 225kb/s and now we have 1mb/s which feels like it is super fast compared to what it use to be.
I remember hearing about speeds that were so much faster.

Just wondering if that was from a business with better uploads or it was from home.
I'm going to be uploading a lot and if my speed is slow I need to make some calls. I know the cable company acted like I was lucky when I complained last time.

If I have some facts to back up my bitching it would help.
Thanks everyone.

So 1mb is pretty good? Not sure why I thought people were doing 400 mb/s but it could have been from work.
Thanks

BlackCrayon 01-26-2017 07:45 AM

10-15 up. 100-150 down.

30mbs? Holy crap. And you say it will be 1000 mbs? Well shit. So 1GB every second?
It is almost worth sending hard drives to people so they can upload it for me. That should be a business :)

No, 1mb is pretty bad these days - When I get the fiber running I think it is 100mb up...

Google Expert 01-26-2017 07:51 AM

100mbps download / 40-50mbps upload

It's 1000 mbs not MBS , it would be about 120MBS transfer. Lowercase b is bit , uppercase is Byte. 8 bits in a byte.

EddyTheDog 01-26-2017 07:54 AM

I often go down to my local pub to upload big files - They already have the fiber...

Barry-xlovecam 01-26-2017 08:02 AM

Our business out links are over 60 gbs combined
Bundles of fiber lines

My home service sucks here 2 mbs (upload) usually :(

LetterTwenty7 01-26-2017 08:06 AM

I use remote desktop for uploading and at home it's nothing special

Yes, if you need to upload to a lot of people using a virtual server would work...

onwebcam 01-26-2017 08:26 AM

It varies but right now on wifi 185.27mbps down 20.37mbps up. On the new Comcast gigabit.

114mb/s Up

My usual download speed exceeds 1000mb/s (I have fiber at home) but for some reason its slower on this computer than another one right now. Maybe time for a reboot.

Correct.

1000 Mbps = 1 Gbps = 125 MegaByte per second (which is pretty fucking fast)

I have these speeds in home network to swap content fast between computers/NAS. But online it's pretty insane.

Adraco 01-26-2017 10:39 AM

Fiber connection, 1000 mbps downstream and 100 mbps upstream.

If it is content you are uploading, you really should put it on a server/remote computer/cloud and then just add people/give them access to that machine and let them download themselves.

So you only have to upload once and they can use their downlink speed.

Maybe your card is not 1Gbps capable.

Also, you measured speed locally (50 miles radius). Try the speed test to somewhere in the US or Europe.

Denny 01-26-2017 11:30 AM

80-100 mbps

Thanks everyone for the information. I am going to call Comcast tomorrow anyway and just bitch. You never know what will happen but at least I can say my buddy has this and that. Easier to bitch when I have some facts to support it LOL.

JohnnyClips - BANNED FOR LIFE 01-26-2017 04:31 PM

I've always had a slow fucking internet

I dont understand how in the year 2017, everything isn't like 1000 mbps up and down

Linkster 01-26-2017 05:01 PM

I'm really slow:
1.97 Mbps Down
0.37 Mbps Up

But then I live in the country so I guess it's my choice :thumbsup

j3rkules 01-27-2017 02:47 AM

It is

80mbps download / 40mbps upload

peter.clickpapa 01-27-2017 03:40 AM

I've got 100/100 with guaranteed 60/60, if i start uploading, the speed is around 8-10 mb/sec, pretty satisfying

xxx6live 01-27-2017 05:29 AM

100/100 on fiber. :)

Adnium_Ivana 01-27-2017 07:38 AM

I honestly have no idea :/ I never had to upload a large file from my comp in a long time but I suspect there's large restrictions on it seeing as I'm in Canada and with Bell >:(

that´s right... we´re on 20 down & 1 up here atm until next week now we´ve got fibre here. Should be 100 down and 30 or 40 up, which will be great when updating vids to my sites & profiles, with the cam on.

1mb is even crap just to run a cam on tbh :2 cents:

k0nr4d 01-27-2017 08:51 AM

I live at the end of a village, there's supposed to be fiber here soon. 800/200

Just look into your contract with Comcast and see what speeds you are paying for. It's not rocket science.

Are you female by any chance?

Here we go :1orglaugh:1orglaugh. It doesn't give an exact number and they give many excuses on why. Not even the point of the thread. I wanted to see what others were getting.
Besides look what Gary said. What does being female have to do with it. They are smarter LOL

The contract does state an exact number, like a $100 for a 100mbps hookup (otherwise how do you even know what you're paying for?)

I now that 100mbps is not guaranteed, but you get the ballpark. If you're getting like 10mbps then you can call them and bitch about it.

You didn't get that was sarcastic? LOL I called her Gary so I thought that would be a dead giveaway :)
As far as Comcast goes it is not my house not my contract but when I called I could not get a straight answer. They are sending someone out on Monday to check on it. They didn't say it should be faster because they want to cover their ass if they do not speed it up. At least that is what I think. Thanks so much for the help though.
