This is a highly interesting summary of events so far. Pay special attention to the "resignations" of senior employees last week and the power vacuums they leave behind. Checks and balances are being swiftly removed. The #MAGA crew will point to this as "draining the swamp" but everyone with a penchant for due process and democratic governance will be immediately concerned.

The US and Canada both have extremely tight vetting for refugees. We have the benefit of the ocean between our borders and the war zones. Europe does not have that protection, and have been inundated with such a flood that yes, cultural norms are being affected.

BEFORE Trump's order, refugees were already undergoing extremely stringent vetting before they were allowed to fly to North America. The list of countries now banned was a list made by Obama as countries that should be watched closely. But, as a good statesman, he understood the value of keeping that policy quiet and enacted in an inconspicuous way.

If refugees and immigrants were causing trouble in the States or Canada, then yes, you would have an argument. But they're not. In fact, they're more law-abiding than born citizens.

Don't compare the situation in the US to the situation in Europe when it comes to Islamic terrorism. In France there are communities full of Muslims with festering pockets of radicals, ready to plot and carry out attacks.

True, but it also didn't exist in many other countries at some point in history. Things are changing and a demographic picture is also changing. Especially with Muslims. They can be peaceful for decades until they get critical mass. Were they so aggressive in the UK in previous years? You know the answer. Voter turnout is and was not the only problem. A huge problem was the education and information level of the voting public. Civics and logical thinking should be mandatory subjects in school to ensure the next generation of voters knows how to arm itself with real facts so they can form logical, valid opinions that are not simply based on emotions and catchphrases.

You say "everyone thinks their facts are real." No. Everyone has faith in their own arguments. Many of these arguments are not based on observable facts at all, but only emotion and sometimes anecdotal evidence. Remember the suggestion that "If we change our way of life, then the terrorists win?" That remains true today.

One of the first steps to a fully literate and educated society is free (publicly paid for) education. Of course, someone is paying those teachers, etc. That is what taxes are for. And of course a human will be in charge of deciding how to direct those funds. That is what people like Betsy DeVos are for. Your election votes also go towards choosing those people and picking the best leaders for the job.

To say there are no "independent" medias is a false fallacy. Sure, someone is running the news outlet and they are paid money by various parties. But many news outlets take care in releasing well researched and well sourced articles, and attempt to reduce bias in their reporting (except for op-ed pieces.) It is up to the viewer to search these sources out and encourage their work. Also, never get your news from just one source. Cobble together several of these well-researched news outlets and form your educated opinion from them.

As mentioned, that is your opinion based on your life experience. I could debate every single sentence of yours, whole night probably. (until now I've learned that is useless, because of many reasons that would again ask for tons of time spent to explain them. It is neverending spiral).

The real issue is 77,000 votes in three states. Call your friends. Don't judge, listen. Urge them to vote. Drive them if needed. That will actually make a difference.
