Black Sabbath Reach End of Heavy Metal Road

Nearly half a century since their first gigs, the Brummie hellraisers returned to their home town with indomitable frontman Ozzy Osbourne for their swansong set.

Thousands of headbangers from around the world descended on Birmingham's Genting Arena to see the Prince of Darkness, guitarist Tony Iommi, and bassist Geezer Butler blast out their hits together one last time.

Famed for once biting the head off a live bat onstage, Ozzy, 68, signed off with a performance of their 1970 classic, "Paranoid," and thanked fans as balloons and confetti rained down.

Ahead of the final performance, Ozzy said his emotions were "all over the place".

Rehearsing for the big finale, he told the BBC: "Since I've got to this building, I've been happy, I've been tearful. Let's see what happens."

I've always thought their RONNY JAMES DIO period was their best.

Probably won't sit well with Ozzy fans out there but the TRUTH has to come out.

I can't sit idly by and not let Dio get his due.

According to this map

Map of Metal

Heavy metal starts with Black Sabbath. One of the most influential bands in history.

I don't know if any of you guys listen to stoner/doom metal, but there a thousand bands out there who were born from Black Sabbath. Look up the genre and explore.

Ozzy sold out to Hollywood a long time ago.

His face has had more plastic surgery than his wife (well almost as much) and his fat fuck daughter has spent millions to transform her mutant misshapen face into something you at least don't puke when you see.

The fat fuck son is another useless POS hanging around Hollywood like a lump of shit.

Ozzy should have overdosed and left a decent legacy instead of turning into a joke stumbling around stage and mumbling incoherently.

Sad really

There's Black Sabbath and then there's everybody else.

I had a car crash once while listening Paranoid loud . Another participant was a priest. :)

I love Dio too but the classic period of Sabbath for their first 5 albums can't be beat IMO. And I'm not an Ozzy fan outside of Sabbath.

I saw them in 1970. They were an opening act for Grand Funk Railroad. They blew everyone away.

I didn't really expect my childhood rock heroes to outlive me, but it appears there is a very good chance that quite a few will. I'm not sure how I feel about the prince of darkness rocking out at 70.

Pete 02-05-2017 11:36 PM

I grew up listening to them. Good times!!
