Ad/banner blindness

Do people click on ads and banners anymore or it's all about aggressive and intrusive popups and pop unders these days?

Konda 02-11-2017 06:31 AM

Yes people still click on banners.
And yes people still pay for porn (even paysites, even when they got there form a free tube).
It's all about marketing

85% - 95% of your advertising dollar is wasted.
Ad blockers have lessened all ads viability (lessening CTR rates) that are from known networks and affiliate programs.

Ads need to be hosted on the 1st party publisher's server. Tracking these type of ads is not reliable.

If you are an affiliate: host the sponsors' banners on your server and obscure the links to search engine robots (if you can anymore).

yes, from what i noticed people just don't click on any kind of ads anymore (almost).

Yes, banners are our main traffic product sand they still work great.

It's really about matching the right offer with the right traffic and getting your numbers to work.

Host banners on your own server. Change their size slightly. So a 300x250 ad might be 298x248. Rename them to names that don't include banner, ad, etc and store them in directories like "naughty".

Then cloak the outgoing links with pretty links, on WordPress, or is.gd on others, or both.

Then ad blocking software won't disable your ads.

Also, pop-up a module window instead of a traditional pop-up.

The ones we find that gain the most ad impressions and the best CTR, on our sites, are the 300x250 banners and the 300x600 banners.

Descriptive text ads work the best I find.

There is a reason sites try to trick click you, because of ad/banner blindness.

A lot of site owners don't realize/care what the surfer wants and how to effectively integrate that into design for most effective impact.

Hint: Ad blockers are a huge success because surfers don't want to be distracted from the content :thumbsup

How dare you try to make money from your website! The entitled Internet users today feel like the internet should be completely free and they don't want to see your ads.

The tips on getting banners to display are solid. They work most of the time. I've had much better luck with contextual ads than banners. I rarely use banners anymore. Some of my text ads do look like banner ads though.
