As pathetic as it sounds i have actually turned down pussy to sit home and play this game

Halo is coming out for pc soon, no point of buying xbox JUST for that.

as much as i enjoyed playing many games on my PS2, it is falling behind... the xBox has much superior hardware at this point, and many recent titles are making use of the xBox's possibilities... if you don't want to invest in both, just get an xBox *and* a modchip... after you've modded your xBox and put a larger hard-disc into it, you can walk into blockbuster, rent games, bring them home and have them copied into your xBox permanently so you can... uhh... 'evaluate' the game to see if you like it at your leisure..!

And how much longer is the general games industry going to keep producing games for Xbox when their sales are decreasing instead of increasing.....?

All I can say is MS is buying up games producers for a reason - but even that is only going to do so much.

while i'm usually not a proponent for any blatant piracy (P2P, etc.), i'm not going to shed a tear for M$ over the modding issue... the PS2 was modded soon after release and whatever priacy went on didn't stop Sony from reaping massive piles of cash along w/ the success of the machine.

however, i couldn't count the number of times i've purchased expensive console games ($50-$60 apiece) based on reviews and screenshots on the box, only to come home and find that the game in question wasn't worth the media it was pressed onto..

Thats true but the PS1 wasn't involved in a console war at the same level the Xbox is. The Xbox is the system trying to play catch up. By making the games easier to rip, that certainly encourages peopel to buy the boxes but since its already a smaller market for the Games manufacturers, this could be the final reason to give up on the system.

I definately like to rent games before buying them - gives you a better idea if its hype or not.

maybe so, I just find splinter cell WAY TO SLOW for a action/espionnage game

although I know espionnage is meant to be slow, I am sorry, but spliter cell seemed just horrible gameplay wise
graphic-wise great game, but the gameplay just made me regret wasting a blank dvd :(

I love my XBOX. I've been playing Unreal Championship on XBOX Live a lot lately, but I only get the chance to play at about 4:00am pacific, which means I mostly get the voices of screaming French 13 year olds on the headset, and occasionally German. That's kinda odd. It sounds nice, but I don't really speak French.

agreed, i have both but if i had to choose between the two i think i'd have to say xbox, as long as you get the online deal with it and have a high speed connection to plug it into =)
