The legend is back - Nokia to bring back 3310!

:thumbsup
Nokia to bring back historic 3310

Smack dat 02-14-2017 03:48 PM

My everyday phone is a Nokia 2310 and I fucking love it. The battery lasts a week, no kidding.

Mine is grey / white but it's basically the same. The other great thing is I get a signal everywhere. I have used loads of smartphones over the years and can't seem to get a signal. This bad boy works everywhere. It's small and light. Really, the best phone ever.

For some reason I don't believe. They will make it looking similar, but it will be a way different device...

The classic 3310 was like AK47 in the mobile world. It was extremely reliable and had a strong carrier even in the woods. This is why it's a legendary phone.

3310 ftw :thumbsup

They don't make phones like these anymore.
You could chuck a Nokia across the room and the worst that would happen would be the battery falling out.
Think about it. A phone that you don't need to charge every day or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 but on the seventh day you could plug it in for 10 minutes and you are back to full charge.

j3rkules 02-15-2017 04:16 PM

I hope they bring it back.

I found my old Nokia 3310 in the drawer... it's been there since 2002 maybe?! And it still has 2 bars of battery. :D

Marco68 02-16-2017 06:09 AM

Nokia 2760, my actual phone. I don't have a smartphone.

Nokia was a great company that fell behind

I remember my company working on industrial prototypes of this Nokia 9000 Communicator Must have been around 1994 as they first released them in Europe in 1996. Way ahead of its time, it never came to the USA. But now i see a few of them on e-bay, for around $85.00- $650 way more than the original price. Great phone for its time but weighed a ton @ 14oz, it was like carrying a brick in your pocket. I might just buy one for old time sake?

Let's hope the technology is up to date. They are going for the nostalgia market with that design though.

doubt 3310 went full charge in 10 minutes (unless you claim it had 90 percent battery left after 6 days).

For real? Sounds more than amazing. 15 years and still has bars? Usually any of my phone and laptop would lose all charge after months of laying turned off.
Something does not sound right, unless they had completely different battery technology that is physically not supposed to lose charge as batteries of today.

It's not different technology, it's simply much less consumption. If you would put let say 3000 mha battery and put it into 2 inch mobile phone with no other functions but sms and calling, it would probably last for 6 months.

Great let's do that then. These fucking smart phones are ruining the world and making people unbearable bags of meat always in my way.

AnimeFevers 02-27-2017 08:34 AM

I had a 3310 back in the day, remember playing snake for hours :1orglaugh

Me too. Pity they don't offer white or black version though. I think these 2 would look great on that phone.

No, really i did.

The phone went dead after a week and I plugged it in for about 10 mins (turned off). When I switched it back on it was back up to full charge.
I don't think we realise how much things have changed and how much power always online internet, GPS, camera, Facebook, Games etc etc take.

Darina_BongaCash 02-28-2017 08:44 AM

snake was good :winkwink:

That is relevant to battery going down faster, not up.
Charging up time actually improved with time, and even now you can not full charge a dumb phone in 10 minutes. Let alone back in 3310 times.

Yes, it was, but considering how long the battery lasted on that thing, I am not surprised some people think it is possible. The point of the joke was that it was ON the whole time, and not off. I like that phone. Miss the snake. :1orglaugh
