paysite joinpages

Was curious if anyone had any opinions on this type of join form.. Dunno if it was brought up before. Would you skip promoting anyone with this shit set-up on their site(s)? :)

my opinion is this..

if they are a dumb porn surfer you will make an extra few bucks

if they have half a brain you may lose the sale all together

but what the fuck do i know?

Stallion 04-11-2003 07:38 PM

as long as I get credit for those joins, its all good :-) hehe

The disclosure appears to be there, what's the problem? The surfer can uncheck the add on box without breaking a finger or losing an eye and the rebill price on the add on is right there in black and white...

hi

meatloaf 04-11-2003 09:18 PM

it is the year 2003, the last time I heard upsells being ridicuelled was in 1999 .... those that ridicuelled are now happily upsell to their hearts are content. Margins are tighter, it's a simple fact. How do you think webmaster programs can afford to pay out $40+ per signup.

if you wanna see something worst then this - go to www.privategold.com and enter some details in the pre-join page, press submit for a 3 day trial and then check out the terms on the 2nd page.... it was pretty bad yesterday. I might even cut & paste it here

this is the terms for a $2.95 3 day trial to privategold.com
http://www.privategold.com/?link=joi...ier=2&ref_url=

-------------------

*You agree to the Terms and Conditions of membership and certify you are over the age of 18. If you so decided to get ToristHunter you should note if not cancelled before the trail is over, it will revert to 36.19. You further acknowledge that today you will be charged $36.19 USD for a full membership to PrivateGold.com. For your convenience, this full membership automatically renews every 30 days unless you cancel. You may cancel by visiting Customer Service. Financial transactions are done through Internet Cyber Entertainment, London, UK, a sister company of privategold.com. You will be billed as icehelp.com

Nice, forced cross-sale where you must opt-out after becoming a member. A little too aggresive for my taste. At least they're not hiding it on the terms & services page, I've seen worst.

Meant they were hiding the terms, the name of the extra site and the cancel link in black text on there.. Can't imagine that would make all that much of a difference

Same guys are (apparently) taking advantage of an old IE exploit on their popups to auto-install some dialer or something on those who aren't patched.. Not entirely sure how that works but it all seems more than a little desperate.

could be a .css used for a different page where links are supposed to be black ? or they are hiding something

Bullshit - Your fucking with the surfers.

I'm college educated and I make a lot of fucking money here. However, recently my Chevron card tricked me into a $69 a year purchase to provide with my credit reports. I don't always read the fine print.

If the box is unchecked and the surfer has to phsyically agree to it, then it's fine. If the box is checked and the surfer has to uncheck it, that's just plain wrong.

The porn industry has a bad enough repuation as it is.
