Trump Just Killed California?s High-Speed Electric Railway Project

Quote:

http://occupydemocrats.com/wp-conten...trumptrain.jpg

On the campaign trail, Donald Trump promised to expand the nation?s infrastructure and create jobs. Now at only a month into his presidency, he is breaking that promise.

The Trump administration?s newly appointed Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao ? wife of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has halted a critical $647 million in infrastructure payments to California?s Bay Area, killing the expansion of a high-speed rail and infrastructure project managed by Caltrain, a rail service that runs between San Jose and San Francisco.

The project, which was set to begin on March 1, would have modernized the rail system with electric trains, creating faster and cleaner transportation for commuters. Contracts are already in place to begin the work, but without the approval from Chao, the state will not be able to honor those contracts and will have to cancel the project.

AndyA 02-21-2017 11:52 AM

Yes our Governor in Florida Rick Scott STOPPED a $1.4 billion dollar payment to Tampa from Obama to build a high-speed rail to Orlando

Republicans DO NOT CARE about the American People... they care about their donors.. they do not want to advance anything except the military

If all republicans dropped dead right now the world would be a better place.. sorry Mom

beerptrol 02-21-2017 11:53 AM

They need that money to pay for Trump's trips, his sons' business trips, and security for all his family who are spread out

AndyA 02-21-2017 11:55 AM

California has like $22 billion in reserves you guys can just pay this yourselves and FUCK trump
California is the only State in the union without ANY republicans in any leadership roles in government and guess what..
it was too long ago they said California was a economic disaster that could never be fixed

Hint: Arnold was the governor...

Now California is a machine.. if I lived in California I would consider secession from the US...

You've got that right:

Trump's Florida trips cost taxpayer money

Quote:

President Donald Trump's trips to his Florida resort come at a cost.

Trump heads to his Mar-a-Lago club Friday for the third straight weekend. The three jaunts may cost the U.S. Treasury roughly $10 million, including security and staffing costs, according to a Washington Post report. Each trip to Mar-a-Lago could cost an estimated $3 million or more, Politico previously reported.

What kind of retarded logic is that? Killing some project does not equate into backing from infrastructure jobs promise... He did not say that he will do ALL the projects or anything like that. Seriously, where do you get those type of stupid thing twisting reporters?

I make the trip from Sacramento to LA multiple times a year. They haven't upgraded the freeways between Sac and LA in the past twenty years since I started making the trip. It's horrible. Having this train would be fucking perfect. Too bad.

Payback for voting for Hilary Clinton.

baddog 02-21-2017 01:43 PM

Good! What a waste of money that would have been. We have bridges, highways and dams that need the money more than we need a train that serves a VERY small portion of the state.

Yeah for all those millions of votes by illegal aliens. He's on TV spreading his "illegal aliens are evil" propaganda.

As long as Republicans have a group to hate, and legally impact negatively, they are happy. They are cycling through brown immigrants, getting back at Democratic states etc. anti porn is coming down the pike.

Trump signed the anti porn pledge, we'll see if he's worse than Bush, all signs point to yes! Trump likes to be the big obese man making people bend to his will.

It would server the entire state. It would being people down to SoCal to spend money. And it would being people from SoCal up to San Fran to play tourists.

Rick Scott has to be neck and neck with Scott Walker for being the most corrupted Goveror in the US. Both should be strung up by their angles and flogged repeatedly then tarred, feathered and run out of town.. Both are absolute scumbags.

It would have been a link from downtown San Francisco, to dowtown LA and Anaheim, linking Sacramento, and a few others. It would be 520 miles, and when finally completed, be over 800 miles long. Not a "very small portion of the state". It would make money by ticket sales and advertising, save people time vs driving, be cheaper than flying, reduce pollution, etc, and employ thousands.

Why are you lying dumbass? STFU oh and it looks like it's not necessarily dead, Trumps could include it in his 2017 budget at make it look like it's his idea and probably force them to call it "The Trump Train"

Going electric would also allow the Peninsula line to be the final link in the high-speed rail system that Gov. Jerry Brown wants to stretch from San Francisco to Los Angeles.

Matthew Welbes, the agency?s director, told Caltrain officials in a letter that the delay would allow the grant ?to be considered in conjunction? with President Trump?s upcoming budget proposal for fiscal 2017-18.

The delay doesn?t kill the project by itself.

The bridge was completed during Obama's term. Parts of the bridge's funding came from Obama's proposed annual budget.

You may be right but I also think there is a huge possibility if he does enforce he would look the other way on pornographers who are card carrying MAGA republicans such as myself. It would be consistent. It would seem. He seems to value loyalty above anything else.

True. Poor people will clutch at straws if that's all there is.

So when the politicians wake up to the facts, they might stop the numbers of poorer Americans increasing.

So pay for it with the ticket price and allow the train companies to build the railway.

Tasty1 02-22-2017 04:51 AM

I am in favour for good transport. If it goes from SF to LA, it would be perfect. Can be very good for the region. More affordable houses that are easier to reach, creating new affordable sub cities, less pollution, no car parking problems and i think a lot of backpackers, low paid job workers and tourist will use it. Perfect for the working man, if it is done right.

Can't imagine why the federal government would see the terminal economic failure that is California as being a drain on the federal budget and a poor investment.

Robbie 02-22-2017 08:32 AM

The Airline lobbyists in Washington D.C. have kept our country from high speed rail for decades now.

I think we are the only civilized country on Earth that flies within it's own borders.
Everyone else in the world rides on 200 mph trains and only flies when they have to cross an ocean.

It's a disgrace that the Federal and State governments have blocked this since the 1970's because of airline company lobbyists money. :(

And these tiny projects that are mentioned in this thread that are projected to cost millions and even BILLIONS of dollars? What a joke.

We need bullet train service from coast to coast.

I was born and raised in Florida. Driving from Tampa to Orlando takes about an hour.
It's a very short distance on I-4.

How the fuck can some company justify spending 1.4 BILLION in taxpayer money for that?
For that much money, there should be a bullet train from Miami to Orlando to Tampa to Jacksonville.

So we should stop giving all those Red welfare states money because they fail to cover their own bills?

I'll give you a little hint.. Things like this benifit people other than those from Cali, because people from other states and all across the world visit them.

I'm glad for example that New Mexico gets federal money to support their roads because I don't like driving on shitty roads while traveling and they could never pay for good roads themselves.

Just imagine if Cali kept all their excess tax dollars for themselves and didn't help pay for roads in states like New Mexico or Nevada or Arizona.. I bet they would have the money to build their train track..

Have been in many countries, for public transport the US is one of the worst. Many tourist and backpackers skip the US cause you need to rent a car or fly from city to city what cost a lot extra.

I always look for an apartment near a center close by public transport.

Those bullet trains from coast to coast i don't think it is profitable/affordable when there aren't enough big cities in between. All those projects in Europe cost more money than expected cause most choose to go with a little slower train and save money. And than we are not talking about the bad trains they bought, they felt apart cause they choose the wrong ones. For coast to coast a plane will be better, or it must be an iconic new sort of Route 66.

Honestly, this is not a fair comparison.. Most other countries are not the size of the US. Most countries in Europe are the size of a single US state making it much easier to have very good public transportation between cities.

Meanwhile in a metro like Denver or New York we have pretty good public transportation however it's not going to be as easy to go from say Denver to Salt Lake City by public transport station because it's very far away and in another state. Meaning you typically need to rent a car or hop on an airplane ect.. It's just not the same as going from Paris, France to say Tours, France.

The fast speed trains in Europe go from country to country like from Amsterdam to Brussels and than Paris.
Al railways always have been connected to other countries. A lot of cargo is going by train in Europe.

I can compare to Vietnam, Thailand, Mexico, Brazil and many other coutries with good transport systems. The tourist love it, going from city to city.

You need jobs?

Stop taxing business and regulating business to death and causing the fucking capital flight exodus out of California thats been happening for a couple decades now.
