How does xvideos back up their media?
I'm sure he has 100's of servers.
How do you back all this up? |
on SSD
most use; mysqldump https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.7...p-methods.html and with scripted rsync https://linux.die.net/man/1/rsync |

^^^ haha the smell of Windows 98 (_|_)

Would not surprise me if they didn't honestly. I have 150,000 scenes and no backups

If they do backup the content it's probably on caset tapes. Seems like it'd be pretty cheap. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnet...e_data_storage Sony announced in 2014 that they had developed a tape storage technology with the highest reported magnetic tape data density, 148 Gbit/in² (23 Gbit/cm²), potentially allowing tape capacity of 185 TB.[1] In May 2014 Fujifilm followed Sony and made an announcement that it will develop a 154 TB tape cartridge by the end of 2015, which will have the areal data density of storing 85.9 Gbit/in² (13.3 Gbit/cm²) on linear magnetic particulate tape.[2] |
Lol.. Tapes... You cunts have no idea how hosting in that scale works.

To do some math I have visited https://www.xvideos.com/ and in most popular Amateur category they have ~105,000 videos listed mostly recorded in 360p quality and lasts ~10 mins. believe such quality is recorded with ~300Kbps quality or even less and 10 mins files size is 300 * 600 / 8 = 22Mb. To store 105,000 videos need only 22Mb * 105,000 = 2.31Tb - that is just a single hard disk drive. This is my rough estimation but anyway I don't see large numbers here. If there is more data just use large NAS servers with several SATA drives connected or just forget about backups if data does not really matter. |

You usually just have a storage origin, dual location (so it's 'backed up'), and the CDN delivers the content (highwinds and limelight in xvideos case). |
In writing ??
|
nice to see they're bulletproof :)
|
Both CDN and a classic load balancing concept are good.
I am more working in webcams and simple solutions with load balanced servers gives less latency in content delivery for end users. And I would say simple configuration with 100's of servers would be more cost efficient than CDN with 50Gbps content delivery. Anyway data backup is not the issue here. Quote:

You gotta have a serious case of lockjaw to be harboring that much dick in your floppy ass cock holster. |

We have racks and racks of servers. We produce 100's of hours of live video each day. |
i have seen some pretty big companies use Tape storages.
but being 100% online site, i think cloud is better option for them.so they dont have to maintain large scale of hw . |
