Until they develop a way to go beyond the speed of light, trying to get people into space won't go much further than our solar system.

There's also the huge costs to consider of Human Space Exploration. A machine can be sent 5 light years for the next generation of scientists on Earth to learn from. For Humans that's a no go.

That's a very limited old school train of thought not based on modern science or physics theory.

You are part of the problem.

The sooner your generation is replaced with ours, one by one, the faster we can finally advance into the future. 71 year old presidents, reigniting old prejudices, hatreds and fears, don't help either, you set everyone back and try to drag the world into a dark cold mindset where everything is tried and failed and nothing unknown is possible.

dumb lib turns a thread about space into a thread about race. big surprise.

hey dumb libs...you have no monopoly on the young. they are split down the middle, despite the liberal empire's attempt to turn all kids into gender confused dumb-bots that cant do anything in life but sing beyonce & go to PC race/sex whining protests.

You are wrong here. If you can travel at light speed you can already be anywhere instantly due to time dilation (albeit to the observer it will take more time)

look at this thread! 1 GOP markham discusses the topic.

& the dumb libs name call, fling bullshit about trump & race. not 1 comment on topic or anything else intelligent. just dumb libs being dumb.

we do not need to go to deep space there are plenty of resources in the solar system...our own moon has helium 3 and jupiter and saturn are full of it...its all we really need from space...

The problem is not so much the speed of light (186,000 mi/sec) but TIME.
If we travel fast than the speed of light we could theoretically go back in time. Then theoretically an astronaut could arrive back on Earth before he left !
Scientist believe that neutrinos do travel faster than light but the infinite amount of energy required to propel something beyond that speed is a real hangup :helpme

ilnjscb 03-03-2017 01:32 PM

We have a few serious issues to solve before we can break the speed barrier a la Alcubierre. But if you look at the energy and tech required to travel to the moon vs. any tech available in the 900s, it is about the same leap. We also have to survive the next 50-60 years.

humans cant live in space. its dreaming. we need specific chemicals in the air, at specific ratios, at specific pressure, plus gravity, & solar protection, & clean water, & a place to shit.

musk-types should focus on moving masses of populations underground. not into space. nobody will ever move billions of people off the earth. should figure out means to live underground while we have time to develop them.

even when we try to launch people out the solar system it will take so long to get anywhere, so many generations will pass for people in space before they even arrive at the nearest star...they will turn into new species of human. wont be like anything earthly.

Machines will have the ability to live indefinitely, travel everywhere, have the brainpower, & make the discoveries we are incapable of making.

:2 cents:

I agree with you about this except for the generation comment.

What did previous younger politicians do, that was marvellous for most Westerners?

They are presently bankrupting our countries, exporting jobs, importing low skilled workers, going to unnecessary and unwinnable wars, making the billionaire-multi-millionaire class even richer and most of the rest poorer, lowering taxes to buy votes and borrowing even more, money to paste over deep problems. Moved away from production and manufacturing to banking and financial services which are at best a casino. At the present rate of loss of GDP, Jobs, Taxes, etc. Where do you see your children's generations future?

I will give you that Trump isn't great, but he shows how your system is manipulated so only those approved by the 1% get a chance to change things. He wiped the floor with all the other Republicans and beat Clinton at her own game under her rules. If Trump had campaigned to only the poor, he would have wiped the floor with her as well.

The only other serious contender was Sanders and he was ambushed.

Please do not call me a Republican. Or hang any political label on me. I think both sides of the political spectrum are intent of fucking the majority in favour of their dreams or pockets.

So far all I could find are theories on travelling faster than the speed of light until it's fact it's an "If we can" situation.

Even so building a spacecraft capable of getting humans to a planet 1 light year away, keeping them alive and fit and possibly bringing them back or having enough to sustain life on their destination. Is as far away as Bronze Age Man circumnavigating the World.

With all the real problems on Earth, its not worth the bother.

Humans also need gravity to maintain muscles.

Time Dilation
You don't even have to actually hit the speed of light

We will not need a special space craft or an engine that is capable of faster than light speed. The common belief is that we can, with the help Dark String Energy (not Dark Matter) find a local area in our galaxy that has two Strings of Dark Energy crossing over themselves. That area will produce whats commonly called a worm hole. The worm hole will in effect warp space-time allowing us to travel millions of lightyears in an instant. The real issue is that so far the projected return journey always seems to end up in a singularity situated at the center of most galaxies.

This is all very interesting but the most important discovery of recent years is we will only have a few billion years to get our act together.
If we suppose that time started with the big bang, its been proven that the universe is expanding at an accelerated rate due to Dark Energy, its proposed that time will run out and everything will freeze as the Dark energy is depleted. Result we are all fucked !!
