So I went to see LOGAN last night. No Spoilers
So I went to see LOGAN last night.... LOVED IT. And I'm not really an X-men fan.
No spoilers, promise. Surprisingly good. Solid acting. Great story. Low on action and vfx, big on drama. Patrick Stewart: Wow. Sad and depressing. Lots of (Finally!) R-rated violence (Claws through brains, ouch!). Sounds great. IMAX Worthy. Photography is great too and I heard today that the director plans to re-release the movie again later thisi year, but in black and white. Interesting! I didn't see the last Wolverine movie or the last X-men movie, but I'm told that it doesn't matter as this is a stand-alone story, though, I now want to watch these movies to make sure. Small Spoiler alert: The movie is preceded with a Deadpool Short film! (Not a trailer, a short). Very funny. |
you know what's so funny about superhero movies?
This is the first superhero movie in years to be praised so much by critics and viewers. Why? What i have read: No childish CGI villains, real acting, and many people say it feels like a western. So... in short they went as far away from the childish 'superhero' shit as possible and went more realistic, and that's why it's better. If this isn't the perfect sign for retards who think superhero movies are good that the average superhero movie is childish cookie cutter crap, i don't know what is. A superhero movie that isn't a superhero movie is the best superhero movie to date = superhero movies are shit :thumbsup |
Haven't watched it yet, but they got me the second they chose to use the Hurt cover by Cash for the trailer.
Definitely going to go watch it soon. |
I saw it saturday night. Great movie. At last, we have a good X-MEN.

It depends what you like. Marvel movies like Avengers are (now) made by Disney. They are strong on story and heroics, but clearly made for "children of all ages". I personally enjoy the stories, but gloss over the cartoon violence, poor attention to science and physics, etc. Logan and Deadpool were made by 20th Century Fox. They seem to want to aim for R-rated content. Adults will like these movies but they would probably not want to take their kids to see them. I like most of the Marvel super hero movies for all kinds of reasons (DC not so much), but I especially like how movies like Logan are "real" in that the characters are grounded, and that actions have real repercussions, etc. Drama isn't dramatic if you don't feel it, and you can't feel it unless you connect with the characters. |
is it a geriatric movie like the expendables? old dude action? shit I hope not...
