Yes they have this in Montreal once in a while. It costs about $250. It starts with wine or champagne on the ground. Then you get strapped in and hoisted to the top of a crane, along with the chefs and the food. The chefs prepare the food and serve it to you right at the table. The experience lasts about 2 hours or so. It looks great.

What does piss me off BIG time is members of my wifes family go out for a cigarette 3 or 4 times during a meal. I sometimes feel like just getting up and leaving...

I do not think such people who tend to need go to the toilet unexpectedly usually would be interested. Most of the people would have no problem withstanding couple hours without going to the toilet.

I can get such a view for free in local bridge or tower (even higher) restaurants without that strange feeling of hanging 50m above the ground.

It's not a matter of having a fear of heights. I have a fear of shoddy engineering. Any engineers that would bother with working on projects like these are ones who weren't hired for something more important to build something instead--planes, cars or safety devices for example. By participating in these things it puts a lot of faith in the hands of these people, gambling with your life no less.

That being said i feel perfectly safe on a ski lift so maybe it's the fact it's not a common design with set standards put into place that gets me more than anything.
