Every so often an election becomes much more important than the others. This only happens once or twice in a lifetime. (Okay, three times if you reach Baddog's age.)
Obama's election and eight years in the White House was important on a scale most of us don't think of. We were going through an economic disaster, and the decisions we made in 2008 and the resulting election was very, very important.
Trump's election, while surprising, wasn't important or even remotely "historic". Trump walked into the Oval Office with an unemployment rate below 5%.
Obama's election was important and historic, on more levels than one. Trump's election was more of disappointment. The amount of people who showed up to see Obama sworn in was unusually large. Trump's was less than average.
