Trump budget director: Feeding elderly and children has to end, it's not 'showing any results'

Gotta pay for the 40 million a month to pay the security for melania to live in trump towers somehow.

We can't do that anymore. We can't spend money on programs just because they sound good. Meals on Wheels sounds great. [?] I can't defend that anymore. We cannot defend that anymore. $20 trillion in debt. We're going to spend money, we're going to spend a lot of money but we're not going to spend it on programs that show they deliver the promises we made to people.

As for school children:

They're supposed to help kids who don't get fed at home get fed so they do better in school. Guess what? There's no evidence they're actually doing that. There's no evidence they're helping results, helping kids do better in school, which is what -- when we took your money from you to say, we're going to spend them on after-school program, we justified it by saying these kids will do better in school and get jobs. We have no proof that's helping.

No proof being are helped by the programs, then you prove it, and the move the goalpost to not helping enough, then you prove it does, then they say it's not helping "the right people" enough :winkwink:

Meals on wheels is huge in the South in rural areas.

It's huge in small states, period. the midwest is going to be completely devastated by this proposed budget. Keep in mind, also, this budget isn't even close to as big as the full budget workup Trump and Congress has yet to do.

Don't worry, they will blame liberals and their hate will feed them at night! If we are going to stop all these welfare programs I guess it's only fair the profitable states stop giving welfare checks to the unprofitable states..

Why should New York or Cali tax payers for example be paying for states like New Mexico or Arizona? If those states can't collect enough taxes to cover their bills then they need to cut spending.. Seems fair using Trump logic right?

The reason the US is in so much debt is the wars they keep starting, loss of jobs to the Third World and Automation, migration of Third World workers into the US. Plus Americans don't pay enough taxes.

How much of that is due to the Republicans? Add the Democrats fuck up and you see why everything is so bad. Unless you're able to buy a politician to look after your interests.

You're just as biased over the Republicans and too brainwashed to blame both sides.

Going to be having more wars with the big cuts in State Department. The idiots in charge now think building up the military is the answer.

That's the best part of it all.. I mean hell I'd be all for lots of cut backs if the money was going to go to balancing our budget and paying off the national debt. Yea I'd be ok with cut backs if they would be responsible with the money..

But...noooo they want these cut backs so they can funnel money to military contractors for military expansion.. Let's not for one moment even think it's to add more troops they can't even meet recruiting limits now..

He wants to cutbacks to funnel money to big contractors to buy more shit.. To top it all off some of the money is also to build his fucking wall that we all heard non stop that Mexico was gonna pay for it..

The best part about it all is the dumb fucks who voted for him who whine about govt spending will be A'OK with it all..

So shortsighted. The small cost of meals on wheels can help offset the larger cost of elder care.

The poor elderly in rural areas that truly 100% rely on meals on wheels will end up in nursery homes and cost the system a fortune.

I'm thinking meals on wheels is a shiny object to distract the media and public. The GOP is likely doing more evil shit in the budget that we won't find out about until it's too late because of focussing on this.

For example, they're cutting the Wildlife Refugee Fund 100% it's gone if this budget passes.

This is very true. It helps keep seniors at home, healthy, and out of expensive nursing homes.

ahhh... you tail spinned off at the end as usual...

the economy is not a partisan issue, its effects take decades to have an impact and it is usually balanced within that time.

maybe next time you get closer.
