What's your time limit for living in the same place?

Over the years I've found a pattern of wavering malcontentment living in the same house after 2-3 years, never staying more than 5 years max. I'm at a milestone now going on 6 years where I am.

What's your limit for staying in the same place? When you move does it have to be a different neighborhood or could it be a house a cross the street, as long as it's a different house?

5 years or so op. I moved around a lot in my youth though. I change cities mostly and sometimes when the heat is on, I change countries op.

14 and counting.. but this is Vegas. It's not really about the house.

I own my house free and clear. I have lived here 22 years.
Nice not having to make a mortgage payment or pay the rent.

Were you a military kid? I moved almost yearly as a child, sometimes twice a year. How much longer till you move this time round?

Tasty1 03-28-2017 07:05 AM

I move alot, onto my 7th Spanish province. First time I've lived in old school Spain though (Castilla).

In the past 20 years I've done 14 moves over 3 countries.

Kittens 03-28-2017 07:16 AM

I don't move around anymore. I just go from one owned house to the other. Easier that way.

We have been living in our house ten years. We love it here. The home was a model home so it has all of the bells and whistles, it's large, and we love the community. We plan on staying here until we figure out where our kid will land...

This wasn't the case for me.

I'm moving later this year, after a vacation in the summer probably and somewhere more rural. Urban living is getting to be a strain.

3-4 years for me

JFK 03-28-2017 08:55 AM

They say apartment/house renovation feels new for 5 years. I believe the same applies to new places to live.

The same house? When was the last time you reached the carpet and/or padding? Cleaning mine every 3-4 months now. One of the things making it seem like my time is up here.

jbvryant 03-28-2017 10:16 AM

Since I rent and depending on the financial situation, it's every two years.

CurrentlySober 03-28-2017 11:37 AM

Does doing jail time count?

Zeiss 03-28-2017 12:00 PM

TheDynasty 03-28-2017 12:16 PM

moving is no fun

bronco67 03-28-2017 01:39 PM

Moving is a pain in the ass. I've been in my home for 15 years and the thought of moving to another one gives me nightmares.

romeo22 03-28-2017 02:03 PM

Im almost for 2years in my new house

Bladewire 03-28-2017 02:13 PM

Wow! Such a variation I thought most of us would be nomads it's seems a good portion of us aren't interesting. I don't think I could stand the same house for 10-30 years , maybe if I renovated every few years, is that what you long term people do?I'd keep everything pretty much the same?

NatalieK 03-28-2017 02:49 PM

Moved a few times, but since moving to Spain, never been happier, so weŽll probably stay in our apartment until we buy a new bigger boat, one we can live on. Once we move onto our boat, weŽll live there until weŽre old, our retirement years.

INever 03-28-2017 10:11 PM

Moving doesn't make you interesting or not.

Olga BongaCash 03-31-2017 07:18 AM

3-5 years

Evil Chris 03-31-2017 07:37 AM

I used to move every few years. Now I've got roots down and probably won't move again for awhile.

Sasha BongaCash 03-31-2017 10:26 AM

5-6 years

GFED 03-31-2017 10:39 AM

2 weeks :thumbsup

Darina_BongaCash 03-31-2017 12:33 PM

After 4 years I really feel that it's time to move

Paul Markham 04-01-2017 01:41 AM

Never saw the point of moving house unless it was too small. So far lived in 5 houses, 2 of them for over 20 years and where we live now 15.
